Is Tiger back?

Four more fairways, two more birdies and they're in a playoff.

Shooting 62 to make a playoff? Unlikely.

Koepka missed some kicks in putts as well.

But yes, Tiger is back - lets just say he can stay healthy and sane in the off season and tie up 15 next year.

He's back to being a good player, back to having a chance in majors, but will never be back to dominating like he did. Too many big strong young studs out there, when he was dominant he WAS the big young stud

There is another good player on tour. Tiger Woods that struck fear in the hearts of competitors is gone forever.

Yeah exactly, it's kind of crazy to think but a guy like Koepka was a teenager the last time Woods won a major. Probably 1st year of college

When Tiger was FRIGGIN TIGER WOODS....Koepka would have been 10-14 years old

Tiger right now is just another guy to them. You could see it today the same way you could see guys fold in the old days. Koepka handled Woods like Teddy KGB handled Damon the opening scene of Rounders. Oh you just made a birdie (flips over cards), i have 2 birdies for you, come back any time!....

Provided his health holds up and with a full normal offseason to work with, he’s going to be very dangerous next year.

I think there was a lot of playing his way into shape this year and getting tournament strength back. Next year he ought to be able to come out of the gate near his current possible best.

Brooks may have won the tourney, but Tiger won his girl. He's back.

Tiger will never be at his peak again, but he's back to being a high level player who can go on a tear at any moment and contend for wins and probably majors. That's good enough for me.

His iron play this weekend was insane. Today, before this birdie on 18, he had made 7 birdies and the TOTAL length of putts was 35 feet. That's mind boggling.

One thing for sure, his last two majors will be a positive In preparation for next years major season. Going from convincing yourself you can to knowing you can perform at the highest level and tasting it again will free him up more.

Has to be emotionally freeing as well. Good to be able to move on from some of the emotions associated with climbing the mountain again after injuries and personal exposure.

I’ve been a doubter, but today was fun to see. It would be fun to see Tiger at 90% of dominant Tiger have a few years to go up against the high level of young talent currently on tour with the comeback talk behind him.

Two winners, two studs. Koepka & Tiger.

Player of the year and player for the ages.

Have never seen an athlete come back from so much, past his prime and rehabbed his game in so little time. He's feeling good about 2nd place. He proved something today that he did not with the lead held at the turn in The Open. Gutsiest 64 that the cameras followed and I got to watch. Incredible.

TW missed a few putts inside 8 ft over the last 4 days that had he made them, he would have won this tournament.

He's back, and he's dam good, but he's got a way to go to be anywhere near what he used to be.

Every player in the field missed a few putts inside 8 feet........you can apply that logic to a host of other players in this tournament, and they, too, suddenly become the winner.

He's definitely back in the sense that if he can keep his driver in play enough, he's going to be in contention. Gone are the days that players are afraid of him just being in the field. Probably still not many that want to be in his group with all the stuff that goes on from the crowds.

Is he back? I suppose so. Problem for Tiger is that he kind of needed this win. His U.S. Open exemption expired after this year, and for him to get back to Pebble Beach next year he needed a 1st place finish. Yeah he'll probably get a special invite, but what if his game turns south between now and next June? Golfers like predictability, and right now Tiger has none, at least for that major. Can you imagine him at sectional qualifying? lol

Tiger said it best in his post tournament press conference. He said it's hard to compete with a guy who hit's it 340 yards off the tee and has a wedge in. https://www.golfchannel.com/video/tiger-64-i-had-go-get-it-and-i-tried/

That's the nature of the game now and it wasn't that way when he was at his best. So, is he back? You bet he is but the game has changed and he's no longer going to dominate.

If plays in the tour championship he gets an exemption, so he can still lock that up.

He doesn’t need a 1st place finish. If he maintains his current level of play, he’ll earn an exemption through his OWGR ranking or if makes the Tour Championship which doesn’t seem far fetched.

Either way, he’ll be ranked 26 after today and there’s currently no reason to think he won’t be in the top 60 come next May.

Or he stays in the top 60 OWGR, currently 51st I believe

26 after tonight’s update.
