Anyone try yellow golf balls and NOT like them?

They play fine, but I have a hard time finding Pro V1x yellows in the rough. Even short rough.

Maybe it's an age thing. I recently started playing a yellow ball and find it MUCH easier to find in the rough, and I think easier to track in the air (although that may be placebo effect). I'll miss the yellow if I switch back to my old ball.

Yellow blends too much to the green spectrum, making them harder to find. I do like the matte red ones though....lol. They hurt my eyes at address they are so bright but look like a tracer in the air! Now Titleist just needs to make a red PV1.

Haven’t read through the thread but I played yellow ProV1’s for a bit. I really liked how easy they were to see in the air but they felt different to me as well as every other yellow ball I’ve played compared to its white counterpart. Which in turn makes me think there is a difference in performance, which there may not be but if you think there is.... I actually asked JT (Bubba’s caddie) on Twitter if they saw a diff in performance and he responded that number were the exact same when compared so ??‍♂️

I think it does. A yellow QST prior gen feels different than their white ball. Years ago, the yellow duo had a horrible feel where the white one was better. But, I still prefer a yellow ball for visability.

I remember reading a blog from Titleist when they announced the Yellow PV1 and how it was a different chemical compound with the yellow and all the R&D to make it perform the same as the white. Marketing perhaps, but I think the take away is that it is technically a different ball, but engineered to perform the same.

Nope, I like them. I made the switch about 6 years ago, fortunately there are many more choices on the marekt today but I have been playing hte ProV1 this year.

I was too, heard those are JDM only, guess didn't sell enough prior gen in Yellow to offer again...which is why I bout 6 doz of prior gen XS in yellow while they were on clearance.

I find yellow balls MUCH harder to see, in the air, on the ground, in the rough, in leaves, basically everywhere! White is much easier to see, tracking and finding.

I only played yellow for visibility. Not sure how much it helps as I still had trouble tracking in the air. Maybe I’ll give the TaylorMade tp5 pix a try. Anyone go from yellow to that and have better luck seeing the ball?

Tee to green they are fine for me. For some reason I can't putt with them at all. I feel like the brightness prevents me from seeing the ball clearly when putting, it almost looks blurry to me and makes my distance control when putting with them horrible.

I played the yellow Prov1 last year and enjoyed it. Ran out and went back to white. But just got my 4/3 deal this year in yellow and having a hard time getting used to them this year. Don’t perceive any performance issue, just seem to prefer white this year. Oh well, will play these til I run out.

Nothing but white here. I love flushing one in the early morning sun and loosing it the whole way, then enjoy my walk about 305 down the middle of the fairway looking for it......... The bad part is the 45 or 50 yard walk back towards the tee looking on both sides in the rough before I find it nestled to the bottom. Still, I prefer to find a traditional white ball in the crap vs a bright yellow sphere :-)

One of my friends plays yellow Chrome Soft. I have trouble tracking his ball in the air and even more finding it in the rough. On the fairway even the white seems to stick out better. I just personally seem to have an easier time finding the white in the thick stuff.

Well. I'm gonna bring this back because it's a smidge concerning:

 

This was a fresh ball. On the 3rd hole (of a Par 3 course). I put the ball in the bunker and have may 15 yds to the pin. Played it pretty well and wound up maybe a yard from the hole. Sink putt.

Cleaned the ball real quick for the next hole and I'm assuming I cut the ball on my bunker shot. I can't say I'm mad because I have been known to cut into a ball or too but, this is a bit more evident than any others in my playing time. I also must stated that I have played an entire round on one ball earlier in the week with small scuffs. No crazy chips like this. I have 3 dozen more I am to get through before my next ball of choice is put in play. I will say this though, I have played the following "yellow" style balls and this result has never happened:

I’ve played every yellow Taylormade ball they make and have never remotely had this happen. I’ve hit trees, rocks, cart paths, and just about everything else imaginable and while it did scuff it’s never taken a chunk of the cover off.

They are usually easier to find. The red ones are especially easy to find.

I wonder if people like the matte colored balls. I bought some Wilson Duo Soft's in matte yellow. They feels a little different. It is not a bad ball and after playing it for 9 holes it was like new.

I think I could handle yellow but the flat matte balls are a little weird to me. I prefer white balls.

Matte balls are cool but they get dirty more easily and mud clings to them terribly.

I have excellent 20/15 vision

Does not seem to bother Bubba so not sure of performance difference in the real world
