What putter did you just buy ?

Been after a QB6 for a while, don't know why I waited so long

Was hankerin' for a putter, wasn't really sure what. Don't really need one, my funky Golo 6 has been working great this season.

 

Was thumbing through Craigslist yesterday, there was a Cameron Circa 62 #6 that had been on there for over a year or so. It was way overpriced compared to its condition (player grade, no headcover), but kinda quirky and rare.

 

I sent the seller a delicately worded email, with a link to the PGA value guide, and an offer that was fair, given the condition, IMO.

 

Seller accepted, I grabbed it yesterday.

 

It's a bit banged up, a little lighter than I am used to at ~340gms and the original Baby T grip is a bit slick (even after two cleanings), but it feels great and rolls nicely.

Picked this up on a Facebook group. Guy used it twice so it was mint but got it for $100 off retail. It’s been incredible so far.

Probably the Mack....it's so nice but I'm realizing when looks beautiful isn't what I can make putts with....

 

I need idiot level alignment and right now the 2ball 10 is providing that for me

That sucks sorta but I guess gotta use what works best unless you're me and my handicap is in a weird spot and doesn't matter a ton lol.

My putting is by far my worst skill set (1 handicap) so Ill take all the help I can get these days lol.

 

One day Ill do a proper fitting with someone like Edel, Im sure weight and toe hang need to be addressed as well.

Edel doesn't make LH putters anymore cause why do we matter right? 

 

If you're looking for something similar look at Fine Tuned Putters, similar idea of a component putter but they rely on Quintic vs a string and laser so lots more feedback and info.

When I was first getting into golf, I remember walking into Nevada Bob's for the first time and looking at putters. It was the first time I discovered Scotty Cameron putters. I loved the look of this design - colorful, with the the bright red Scotty grip. I wanted it so badly, but it was way out of the budget for 15 year old me. 

 

I finally found one in excellent condition that I picked up a few weeks ago. I probably won't game it, but this definitely has some sentimental value for me.

Had a good run with my current gamer but lately something has been off. Decided I was going to try a mallet for the first time since I started golfing. Spent $90 and if I like it, I will probably find something a little nicer.

Take some rough grade sandpaper to the grip and then re-wash it. I've done that to many grips through the years and it usually will make them like new.

Is Bettinardi owned by Taylor Made ?

 

The upside down half circle face looks like the old Yes design.  Yes putters was bought out by Adams golf who was later bought out by Taylor Made.

Bettinardi acquired the Yes! patent when it expired. They got it because Matt Fitzpatrick wanted them to build a replica of his Yes Tracey II.

Why is their Fitz tribute putter not exactly the same?

 

I don't think they bought the patent. They are just skirting around it by having the one they can sell (without patent violations) be different.

You may be right about bettinardi not buying the patent. But I’m pretty sure it expired, allowing bettinardi to reproduce it. I think taylormade bought Adams and Yes and then just allowed the brands to fizzle out.

The patent on it expired and it's free use for anyone.

They didn't acquire it, TaylorMade still owns it but it's expired so free use for anyone.

They said something about the actual putter being for Fitz and this is a tribute, the Yes C-Groove they took and redesigned the groove angles and came up with the RC Face so you can technically still get the tech just a little different.

I have been looking at trying a wide blade lately but feel like some of them get proportionally weird looking. I didn’t really know the Newport+ existed but that size was what I was looking for.  Enter the Cameron Studio Stainless Mid Sur. Longer back to front and longer blade length. Has a longer neck so less toe hang than normal and 375g head weight. It really just looks like a scaled up version of a Newport. Still dialing in what length I will play it at but so far so good.

Fell in love with the BB1 at my club champion fitting. Wasn’t even on my radar as bettinardis have been too loud for me but this is one of the most stunning OTR putters I’ve seen. The finish in person is awesome. Felt and rolled beautifully. Now let’s hope it translates to the greens!
