I, as do many of you, live in a "golf destination" region.

Occasionally I get PMs from WRXers who are here on holiday and looking for some local intel which I am more than happy to provide.

As it happens, the opportunity / invite to join their group has not come to topic as of yet but I assume (and hope) that one day I will join one or more of you on my local links.....>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> And get my butt smoked on my home track.

It seems everybody here at the X plays the tips and shoots at, under or near par on some pretty damn hard, and long, never before played courses first time out. This boggles my mind. I know these tracks, every single sprinkler head and gator hole and struggle to break 80 from the II tees. Personally I think many of Y'all are full of poop.

Does that mean I wont play with you bad MoFos when you come to town? No, I'll play. Will I play the back tees? yeah, but maybe not the par 3s. Seriously, My course has 3s over 240 yards and its windy with lots of water. I love playing with truly skilled golfers and it always elevates my game so if you really can do it, God bless you and good on ya'.

Am I gonna pick up the bar tab when you beat me by 10? Not on your life!

But as we say the South: I aint Skeered.

I'd absolutely play with a random Wrxer. Probably have a number of times without even knowing.

Oh, and I'm not playing the tips if they're over 6600 yds!

I played with a random WRXer when I posted and extra round free to anyone who wanted it. A guy drove maybe an hour to play. He was significantly better than me (I dont suck) and could ACTUALLY drive it 300yrds on top of that he was humble and kind... good time.

Ive played with 30+ guys from WRX over the years most of my regular playing partners are WRX guys. You would be surprised how many guys from wrx actually do bomb the ball and shoot mid to low 70s or better.

By the time I switch all my clubs out of my signatured staff bag and into a stand/walking bag...
Pull all the iron covers off...
Put some alignment sticks in place of the ball retriever...
Sand blast some dime sized wear marks in the middle of my 3 day old muscle backs...
Peel all the regular flex stickers off the shafts...

I'd probably be too worn out to actually swing a D8 driver, what with all that lead tape haphazardly stuck on it in the coolest of ways...

Same as one_putt said. Played with tons of the local guys, if I'm not playing a solo weekday round then 100% of my golf is played with local guys from Wrx. I've also played with quite a few visitors, it's always been cool. It's fun to play golf with people who are like,really into golf.

I played a round with a wrxer once. He told me he never miss hits his two iron and that he thinks he could break par at Augusta. He came out to my home track, 6900 par 72, 73.9/141 rating shot an 82. Says it was the worst round of his life.

Plus, since a couple of us work a few hours a week at a course anyone playing in our group gets to play for near half price.

I'd like to think you can suss out the "normals"* from the bullspitters and basement dwellers. A vast majority of folks on here just happen to enjoy the game of golf. It's that simple.

Back when I spent my money on trackdays instead of golf, you'd regularly meet up with fellow forum members, so you had someone to chat with between sessions and also some one to scoot around the circuit with, when you did.

Have met and played with 20-25 guys from the Chicago area. To a person, I'd teed it up with any of them again, and do now on a regular basis. Will hopefully have the chance to head down state this summer to meet up with some of WRXers there.

I certainly would. Last Spring we tried to get something going in the New England area, but it never took off. I am hoping we attempt it again because I think it would be really nice to play a round of golf with people that really enjoy the game as much as the folks that are members here do.

I was considering posting something similar when I first read this topic. I've participated in a few other activities that had active internet communities and also felt that you could feel people out pretty easily before committing to anything. Bigger open invitation gatherings often had a few odd balls, but no one too difficult to get along with casually over a couple beers.

Hopefully we'll put something together for the Oregon contingency sometime soon!

I also live and work in a golf destination and have met up and played with WRXers multiple times. It has been a blast each time and also very unique experiences. I think it is an awesome part of being a part of this community
