The two clubs i've played at both have names for the 10 foot put that looks good guy said "nice putt" before it goes in and the ball lips out. Each was named after a guy who chronically did this.

Moral of the story: the ball isn't in the hole until its in the hole.

Or that's so wet! --- a shot that appears to be within 10 feet.
Splash! --- a shot that is within 5 feet.

I think it stemmed from our basketball backgrounds, and making it splash from behind the arc.
