I went from the SLDR to,the Jetspeed with good results.

Then I found the Callaway XR driver. I added 9 grams of Hotmelt low and toward the face.

It's long, forgiving, low spin, and sounds and feels fantastic. Longer than the JetSpeed by 10 yards.

It seems to have similar low spin characteristics of the SLDR with the forgiveness of the JetSpeed.
With the hot melt what would be a comparable loft going from SLDR to the XR? Did you go down in loft at all?

I went from a SLDR 460 10.5 to a G30 10.5. My good ones with both are about the same, but the mishits are so much better with the G30. I'm still playing around with shafts on the G30 also, currently have a Fuji Fuel 50 S in it and it's ok. Might go with a heavier shaft next.

Tough to get longer than a SLDR on a center hit but frankly, even at a 2 hdcp, I'm not good enough to do that often enough to make it worth it.

SLDR C...wtf? Didn't they try that already with the SLDR S and the Jetspeed? What are these guys doing? You'd think they'd want to steer people towards the Aeroburner

Agreed, much more forgiving than the 430 SLDR I switched from, and almost as long for me. I like it so much, I bought 2.

I'm attempting the switch to R15 from SLDR starting today. Like someone else mentioned, when it is squared up it is long. My two issues are:

1) I could probably use a 10.5* head for SLDR
2) I like the look at address a little more with R15 black head

We'll see how it goes. I'm not in a huge rush to dump the SLDR but I thought the r15 was worth a shot.

Got SLDR on close out. Can hit it fine. Don't know why so many have problems with it thinking a change of equipment can help. Fix your swing with lessons instead like I did. Cheap close out slider, two lessons, still cheaper than buying a new driver.
If a club doesn't fit your swing, a change in equipment can actually have great results. Lots of folks try something, find it doesn't work for them, and move on. I'm happy that the SLDR fits your swing, it didn't work with mine.

I tried one briefly, and I'm actually running with an SLDR mini at 12 degrees, and I love it. I'm not a huge hitter, and I'm finding that it only costs me maybe 15-20 yards from where I was hitting my driver when I hit it well, and it's pretty consistently right around where an average drive would be for me. I'm pretty solid with the irons, and the mini is finding a ton of fairways, so it plays to the strength of my game. (I actually dumped my 3 wood for a driving iron, and so far it's wowkring very well)

I played a SLDR last season because I thought I couldn't hit anything else deeper (and I'm a distance freak)...

...and then I tried the BioCell+.

I was never very accurate with the SLDR, and the BC+ was just as deep and nearly 50% more accurate for me. Throw in the fact that the BC+ comes with a *much* better stock shaft than the SLDR, and it's not even a contest anymore.

I now alternate between the BC+ and BC Pro, and I hit way more fairways than I ever did with that damn SLDR.

I played the SLDR since its release back in July/August of 2013. I am playing an R15 TP now.

My now 14 year old son could not get anything out of the SLDR. It wasn't forgiving enough for him and didn't launch right. He went back to his R1. This year he is playing the R15 TP Black driver and is absolutely killing the ball. On a side note, he loves the SLDR Irons, and I don't see him replacing those for a while.

IMO, this interesting trend warrants a look at some data. What are the differences in launch conditions between SLDR vs new club(s)? It may be very telling to just compare ball speed, launch angle, and backspin. Although not likely for many to have the information, but please post if you have actual LM data for both clubs.

As a bonus it'll be interesiting to see what numbers people have been able to get with their drivers. Obviously 17* @ 1700 spin is not achieved by many so let's see what's out there.

Ping anser. 9.5 with a speeder VC 7.2 ts ( that's a mouth Full ). Same spin. Low low low. With a better shaft. Launches higher. I picked up a legitimate 10-15 yards carry. Not roll out. I mean in the air. ! Longest combo I've ever hit. Tested against g30 ls tech with same shaft and anser spun less and carried it by 20 yards. Very underated head with the right fitted shaft !

Edit. All that said. I still am a sldr fan. Especially the 430. Best looking head made in years. I just lucked into a more forgiving longer combo. I'm sure I could get same distance by swapping to the speeder shaft in the 430 etc. but the forgiveness has spoiled me. I can't miss with the anser as long as I get the big a** head squared at impact. Lol

Callaway BB 815 Alpha got hit today. Beautiful club, felt great, sounded great, lighter than the SLDR by 10 g. This club has a chance to stay in the bag, Ping G30 LS felt like crap compared to these 2. Both in 10.5°, 815 launches quite a bit higher.

Yesterday I had one of the best driving days ever with the SLDR, kind of hard to bench it but I did.

Edit: Noticed the 815 was set at 9.5° and still launched higher than the SLDR set at 11°.

I got rid of my SLDR because the misses were sooo bad. I was using my 3 wood when the hole needed a driver because I was afraid of where the miss would go if I didn't hit it pure. Good hits were very good - bad hits very bad. I used a SLDR Mini 12 for a few months with a lot of success, and eventually transitioned to a G25 which has been my best driver ever. I actually hit it longer than the SLDR and the mis-hits are still usually manageable.

Disappointing and at the same time intriguing that nobody is posting LM data.

I'm not saying the new club(s) aren't as long as folks advertise but I'm curious how launch conditions change with various clubs.

SLDR, like just about every other club out there, simply isn't for everyone. For those (like myself) who have managed to gain distance, accuracy, and confidence it is a dream. For others it is junk.

I currently own an RFE, a BC+, a 430 SLDR, and my 460 SLDR. At any given time I might rotate any one of them into the bag just to play. My two favorites are the Cobra and the 460. Just happens that right now I am nailing the 460 and have gained yards and confidence. Played yesterday and only missed on fairway and even it was close. Hard to pull something that is working. So for the time being the 460 SLDR is staying put in the bag.

I had planned on gaming the SLDR Mini 12 degree as my driver/3 wood replacement but that didn't pan out like I had intended. My 905T was longer, as much as 25-30 yards and I could control that fairly well, almost as good as the SLDR Mini. The driver stayed in the bag. I never got comfortable with the Mini as a 3 wood and have gone to a 915Fd 15 degree 3 wood. Not losing too much yardage off the tee with the 3 wood but the Mini was longer. So far the 915Fd is as accurate off the tee as the Mini was but I can hit it off the deck with relative ease (so to speak) and much easier than the Mini.
