true confession time.

 

i cheated on wednesday. i found a dozen new balls in the garage. new, as in unused. took a sleeve for fun because i can’t stand playing without some equipment thing to overcome.

 

titleist hp2 tour. pre-prov1 era, made in probably 1998 or so, around the titleist professional time. 2 piece solid center with a thin cover.

 

played the same as any modern ball i’ve played. plenty of spin around the green and nice feeling cover. seemed about the same off the tee and with irons. not a mark or scuff on it for 18 holes. looks brand new. it was older than the college kids.

 

perplexing.

The wife and I can eat at the Moose club and eat good for the both of us for under $20 not including the tip. I hate it because I love the Waffle House but no more. I am not cheap but neither am I going to throw money around

Best deal in my hood is this Chinese place. Ya get a little bowl of wonton soup with 2 wontons but lots of duck sauce and fried dry noodles. An egg roll. And a plate with a load of pork fried rice and a small portion of meat like pepper steak or ribs, whatever you want. For 12.95! 
 

And they sell beer and decent wine for like 5-7 bucks!

I didn't really start trying to learn to play till my Dad retired, and started playing more, but most of my golf was at the only public track that was close. I got hooked, joined the club, started playing in the noon game every so often after I improved a bit.

My dues are $600. No yearly cart passes are available, which doesn't bother me as I still walk most of my weekend rounds.

I play with a group of regulars who have a standing tee time on Saturday, (unless course is booked for an event). 

I also pay an additional $100 to compete in Wednesday night men's league. I do pay to ride nine 9$ on league night.

The owner does his best to improve conditions, and has done a great job promoting the place.

The V2's were real spinny but the V3's seem to be better. I play them in early spring and in the fall because I don't feel as bad losing a $1.25 ball.

We are leaving and she says please don’t let go there again.  A $70 lesson.

 

Having said that, it was so bad we giggled a lot.  But really!? 70 for trash?  And $70 was the bill, not including the tip.

isn’t it? i know the restaurant business is hard, but how hard is it to cook a decent meal and serve it with a smile?

All of the Chinese places except one (and it sucks) on this end of the beach closed down during and after the pandemic. We have a Hibachi down the road that used to be good but it has changed hands and names 4 times in the last few years. I have heard that the prices are high and the food sucks now. We had another local owned Hibachi up in Surfside. Those owners have 4 other locations on the Strand and have great food. They closed up the one in Surfside due to the fact they could not find good dependable help. I know the manager. He told me for a while there were nights he could not open up that he did not have help. Finally the owners said close it and moved him up to one in Dirty Myrtle.

Probably, because every year the newest, bestest driver released, is 15 yards longer than last years model.

I am just gonna wait 6 years to buy so I can gain 80 yards in one fell swoop.

We're members of the Fenton (Mi) Moose Lodge #430.  The yearly dues are reasonable ($125).  About a half hour away, so not exactly close.  But they have good food and drink at very reasonable prices.  Friday Night Fish Fry is excellent, with walleye as an up charge option.  NTM, it's located on Lake Fenton (845 acres) so the view out the windows or on the deck are great.  Gets slammed on summer weekends when the boat crowd ties up.

i went to one a few times for lunch in the late ‘70’s. couple of guys where i worked took me. best lunches in town.
