Just viewed the pic's of the D2 that is on the home page, Ugly would be understated! The shape is disgusting to look at, and the face graphics look like a driver sold at Costco! Hopefully the D3 is better!

 

It's not THAT bad. I'd reserve judgment until you see them in person.

I am not a fan of the D2 shape, the color looks good though, maybe the D3 will suit my eyes. You are right, pictures are never what they seem.

I love the finish on this line. I really wish more manufacturers would go with something similar. A lot like the SLDR. I like how it's not black, but it's more subdued than the alternatives from other manufacturers.

I'm not sure about the cost issue? Do Titleist drivers cost much more than the other brands in the US? Here they've always been the same. As for the noise of the 915, I don't get that either, I've had an M1, M2, G30 and the new G (I think that's what Ping called it) in my fourball and I thought the 915 was the quietest!

Not so sure about the grey finish and the black face. If they were going to go back to grey on top I think they should have gone back to the steel colour face like they did from the 975 to the 909.

At this point where nearly all premium drivers perform, with the right shaft and settings...

 

Appearance does matter. I was expecting something better/cleaner than this, at least for the D3 model. A 910 with exactly the same shape / graphics with new "tech" would have been significantly better than what I'm seeing.

 

Was really hoping on going back to Titleist, but I think a Sub-Zero will be in the mix for next season.

I think the D2 shape and alignment aid on the 915 is bad as well. D3 had a nice shape though.

The photos look way too shallow on the D2. Hopefully the D3 (and more than likely D4) will have a deep face.

It looks a lot better than I expected, but nowhere near as clean as the 915 or prior generations. The weight looks interesting and the colour is darker than I anticipated (Great thing) but unless it performs head & shoulders above my current gamer there's no way I'll make a switch this time around. Head cover looks god awful too, just ship em with the sock covers.

Looks like the interchangeable weight is gone. I guess swing weights will be handled in the Surefit CG?

The 915 looks like the better purchase at the time of release of the 917. We'll see how the guys like it.

Interesting that (it appears) they're using the weight for draw/fade bias as opposed to low spin forward/high spin back like pretty much the rest of the manufacturers. As such, not really that excited by them. I feel like draw/fade bias has been done many times before in many different ways. They look nice though.

Got it. I guess I've never paid attention to up charges because I typically find the stock shafts more than capable. Although I absolutely love the feel of the GD AD BB 7, but hesitate on paying $333 up charge fees. I haven't even considered another manufacturer lately, so I didn't realize Callaway and TM offered more shafts at same cost price kind of thing.

 

EDIT: It's actually $206 for TM up charge on the GD AD BB and $237 for Callaway. A little lower than Titleist up charge, but still an up charge nonetheless.

I liked the rogue in the 915's! GD would be great, but I doubt they'll put those in.

 

I have a gut feeling they'll offer the speeder since they put it in the 916's!

A whole lot of the custom shaft options do come with no up charge. It's not like Callaway and TM are offering Graphite Design shafts at no up charge. The no up charge selections are very similar across the brands.
