So...anybody see the rant on the PGA Tour's Facebook page over the weekend by sister Hanna Reed about brother Patrick before the Tour deleted it? Thank God at least one twitter person took a screenshot. Now it's out there for all eternity. It's on golfunfiltered.com and other places I'm sure. I was embarrassed sitting here alone reading it. Talk about airing family dirty laundry O...M...G

Wife and I seldom use profanity, wasn't common in our home. It's not tolerated in the office either, so its not listened for on TV.

 

The only golf person we use to regularly see mouthing profanities was Tiger. Probably because camera's were always doing closeups on his face. That's not to say others didn't use it, its just they didn't or don't have a camera in their face all the time.

 

Today's youth are sadly vocabulary challenged. Lacking being taught manners and self-control at home, profanity is all they know to express frustration. Thankfully, TV attempts to mute it out. Unfortunately, children in the nearby gallery get the full affect; suppose its like hearing parents at home; either way, its wrong.

Reed is an Old School Professional Golfer living in a modern world. The Tour is not a personality contest. He gets it done. You may not care for his attitude, but he probally don't give a flip about your opinion. I like him.

The whole Facebook post from his sister is an interesting addition to the Patrick Reed story.

 

I can go either way when it comes to him. Having read as much negative press about him as there has been I think that there is no doubt that he is an interesting guy and there must be something behind it. He also seems to have been found out in the past for saying things which have later found out to be less than accurate.

 

I like that the guy seems to passionate about his golf, about his country and will stand up for himself. I also like that when I have seen him in and around fans particularly kids at the Ryder Cup and the last couple of Open's he has been brilliant. Those things are definitely to his credit.

To all of you who hit the 'like' button for this post, you warmed the heart of an old Pro. It's good to know so many 'get it' when it comes to Tour players and their world. Until the later part of their careers some players you may recall were not fan favorites...Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson. Turned out nearly everyone was a fan of theirs in the end. Let's just watch this kid play and enjoy someone who is not a "cookie cutter" Pro.

I love the way Reed goes about his business on the course. I think he has one of the best swings on tour, even with the sliding left foot. He's a well rounded player.

 

For those of you too young to remember, let me introduce you to Bob Gilder....

 

He shares a trait with Reed, in the fact that his feet move, altho it tended to be more of the back foot for Gilder.

 

He was a Ryder Cupper, and I always gave him credit for owning his game.

Yep Rickie is not your axe murderer.. The subject of this thread most certainly is, Give him mcilroy last ball out in the singles on Sunday when it's all tied. I can't wait.

I have always thought he has been a beast of a player. However, I had two issues with him he seems to have resolved - he got rid of that stupid choke chain necklace thing he used to wear and stopped wearing Tiger Woods red and black EVERY week.
