What a great experience and chance to interact with some of the best in the golf equipment industry.

Legitimate concern. I know it can happen occasionally, but it has become somewhat routine for smash factors to be reported over 1.494. Are the clubs being tested within USGA conforming limits or are they hot?

Good point on the smash factor. I'd say that Trackman is not providing accurate inbound data for club head speed.

It may be a point of discussion with the Callaway folks while you're at Carlsbad. It would be interesting to hear their Point of View regarding the reported club speed with Trackman.

Obviously it will never be able to be confirmed but I was told by a reputable source that the demo heads that the Cally reps toured around with were "hot" heads.

Could be rumor, but it certainly could explain the increase in ball speeds during initial hits

So some of the guys were a better fit for the older wedges and not the new forged ones? Was there any reason or just a feel preference.

The new wedges have a straight leading edge and more aggressive C grind, neither of which I liked.

Really aggressive c grind. They look and feel good to me, but got better results with the md3.

This was the first real wedge fitting I did on grass.

In-n-Out is delicious. It's not as good as Five Guys, but it's delicious.

I randomly click into this thread and pick this page to start and see this. You sir, are a monster!

I hope so, might be a little hard with a 6 iron and putter on that course.

Why do we think smash factor should be limited to 1.494?

There are people WAY more knowledgeable than me, but the laws of physics play a role with the USGA limitations on COR and CT. Tour players are at 1.49 on Trackman with conforming clubs. There are some other factors that come into play that can occasionally get SF above 1.5 and maybe someone else can chime in, but it probably should not be routine unless there is something happening (measurement error, hot club, etc.). Not trying to derail the fun, but I think the question should be asked. Doc Hock may know.

Had the awesome opportunity to play the South Course a few years ago with my dad and oldest daughter. Incredible experience. The way some putts break will confound you. We were there not too long after the Tour, and rough was thick and some tough lies near the greens. We walked to soak in the course and tried not to look past anything about the features and design. Have a great time!

I hit a reps demo heads and smash averaged at 1.49. I just don't believe they would give hot heads to reps especially when the general public wouldn't really get a chance to hit them. Too much trouble for what it's worth.

Trip sounds like a blast and I'm surprised to see some people fit into the previous version hybrids and fairways. How are the new EPIC fwy woods? :D

Noooo!!! So limited grinds? Nooooooo!!!!

From everything I know, think Cleveland wedges of 20 years ago... what you see is what you get with each loft. So essentially no grind options, that's why the MD3 line will still be around.

I am still trying to find out if the grooves will be the same across the line or if the grooves will vary based on loft like the MD3.

That's awesome y'all are getting the clubs built up overnight. That's no small order.

For guys that know what they're doing with the equipment that they have... piece of cake. I'm not certain of how long the Cally process is, I've seen videos of the TM tour van building a wood to completion within 15 to 20 minutes. Takes longer for the epoxy to bake than everything else.
