They are elusive! I had been really close more times than I could count. But I'm glad this one played out like it did, I hit it so pure. I've heard of people getting theirs blading or slicing it and getting lucky. But still, take it how you can get it!

I stand my ground in saying that it seems like it's always the 20+ handicaps that get holes in one. When you are a decent player and put some spin on the ball it really seems to reduce the odds rather than the duffers who hit it 15 yards short and roll it onto the green. I would think we have a better chance on longer 180+ par threes.

Matt, I have had 4 holes-in-one. I think there is an inverse relationship between making a hole-in-one and one's playing ability. :-)

 

On another note, I went to one of those simulator doo-dads today to use the range feature. I wanted to get some idea of how far I hit my new clubs. The sim was a bit of a disappointment. The driver distance was pretty much in line in what I did at Callaway, as was the 3-wood, however the irons were another story. 170 yard 8-iron? 200 yard 6-iron? And so on. Didn't really learn very much. However, it did feel good to swing a golf club in a warm "climate". :-)

Decided to give my 58* a CLR bath. Glad I did, it looks great. Makes the chevron more subtle. The 50 and 54 are definitely getting done too. I'll give it a few days and then post how it ages.

Was on a LM today. My numbers for the driver are as follows:

 

SR: 2800 rpms

LA: 12.8

CHS: 97 mph

 

I was averaging about 14 yards more carry and 25 yards total over last year. I have been working hard on my swing.

I purchased another set of wedges: one set for practice and one set for play (I practice my short game...a lot). I want to make sure I'm feelin' groovy when I play.

 

I also picked up a few Epic hats. And, when the Chrome Soft X comes out in Truvis I will pick up some of those.

I haven't bought anything new club wise. I did get a red Ogio Shredder bag to match my new Ric Flair crocodile headcovers! Wooooooooooo!

 

Also, i'm not using the Odyssey i was fit for. I had ordered a custom putter from a guy from Nova Scotia i had bought 2 weeks before finding out about the trip and right now that's in the bag. But that could change, putters tend to change

 

I haven't felt this good about my game in a while though, i haven't shot higher than like 74 in virtual golf all year (note: virtual golf is easier for you fairweather folks), so i feel like all the other clubs we got i'm totally dialed in with

And one of them mentioned "you know, the Callaway rep was here last week and he was talking about some local dude that got to go to the performance center as part of a GolfWRX website trip"....
