Why is everyone suggesting he is going to Rahm? Is there any sort of source to that or are we all echo chamber-ing?

 

Rahm and Phil are friends (or friendly), Tim is his current agent and obviously knows Bones quite well, and Bones is probably a solid calming influence on the bag that Rahm could really use right now. Given that Phil and Bones have not seemed anywhere near as friendly as they have in the past on course, it may have been a good time to split ways to maintain their very good off course relationship.

Phil is one of my favorite golfers, it's sad to see him and Bones split. It's good to see they will still be great friends (unlike Tiger and Williams) and my guess is they went their own way to protect their friendship.

 

When things are going well you can overlook a lot of things that annoy you but when things aren't going as well, it gets harder. Phil hasn't won in a while and he probably thinks some fresh blood on the bag will help. I'd like to see Bones and Rahm team up but not too thrilled about Phil's brother carrying the bag.

I'm wondering if Phil's decision to NOT play in the US Open had anything to do with it.

Rahm was recruited by Phil's alma mater, ASU, with Tim Mickelson as his coach. Tim stepped down from ASU when he became Rahm's agent. Seems Bones going to Rahm is a natural progression.

Couple of weeks ago, they ended a round barely even looking at each other. It was uncomfortable enough that Phil had to answer a couple of question about it. They may have ended the professional relationship in order to stay friends. Amy and Bones' wife are close and it may have been getting awkward all the way around.

 

Regardless, I find it kind of depressing. Watching Bones gimp around on those new knees is kind of depressing, too.

I see bones caddying for someone else. If he was going to pair back because of his knees then it's a pretty clumsy pair of statements when it would have been easy to have given his health as a factor. Sad day, I never saw that partnership breaking up

I think this was coming sooner or later. Bones knee issues probably give him a ton of discomfort on the course and its been visible since he returned from surgery. I think its just time for him to hang up the bag and enjoy retirement. I don't think we will see him on anybody else's bag.
