Not a Callaway guy, but I saw the Apex MB's in person today and they're absolutely beautiful irons!!

If the raw finish is a real thing and is available, it's going to be really tough to decide between that and P730....

MP18's are also stunning to look at, will go hit them all when local clubshop gets 730's in their fitting cart.

I hit these today as well. Gorgeous blade and I love the how short they are. They felt really good. Not as meaty of a muscleback like the mp18's or 2014 TM MBs. I felt like those you can really throw the weight of the muscle and compress balls. Not sure which I like more. Seems like my local store may not even get a demo iron of the 730.

Hit both the MB and X Forged late last week. Both had PX 6.0 in them, a shaft that I severely dislike. Even with a shaft I don't get along with, both iron models felt as good as anything I've ever tested.

Anybody know if Cally softsteps the stock shafts, as their standard assembly, like a couple other OEM's do? This may explain the "feeling" being reported as better with stock PX 6.0's.

I really need to stop reading this thread. Love my current MBs. But I guess I'll just have to hit the new ones.

Damn they look good.

the feel is even better than expected. soft but very solid. that was with a PX 6.0 shaft.

The standard is pretty high for the feel of their forged clubs. Have you hit any of their quality forged irons in the past?

Do we have an official verdict on the availability of the "Raw" finish? Seems as though there has been some conflicting reports.

I guess that depends on the region you are in.

A friend of mine is a PGA Pro in Europe and he mentioned to me that they can get the raw finish there.

I work at a Callaway account in Australia and it is available here.

Yes I have. Just to mention a few, Apex MuscleBack, Apex Pro 16, Apex Pro 14, RAZR X Musclebacks. Out of all of these the softest feeling was the RAZR X MB. The New X forged irons feel similar to the RAZR X MB.

Ok, I would have expected a similar experience given the quality of the true forged clubs that have put out in the past which is why I asked which ones you've hit. I would have expected/hoped they would be similar to the RAZRs

Just got fitted for a combo set of X-Forged and Apex MB's. They are being built out as we speak. Decided to do 3, 4 & 5 irons in the X-Forged with 6-PW in the Apex MB's. All I can say is that the X-Forged irons were extremely forgiving, felt really really good, all the while looking amazing at address. The Apex MB's are in a class of their own. The instant feedback on ball strike was second to none. I've never felt anything more buttery when hitting the sweet spot, which is honestly not hard to do with these clubs even though they are proper blades. I found them pretty forgiving for a classic blade design and I also thought they look absolutely stunning at address. The best shaft for me ended up being the KBS Tour C-Taper in X-Stiff, with all irons being an inch longer than standard, going 1 degree weak on the loft and 1.5 degrees upright. Went with the Golf Pride MCC Align grips in midsize on all clubs, which feel awesome while holding the club, and just for sh*ts and giggles I had my fitter put grey ferrels with a dual red stripe on the bottom so they blend in with the shaft to give my clubs that custom look. Just wanted to share this info with the golfwrx community because honestly, I can't hide my excitement for this new set of stix!!

Did you hit the new P730s too by chance? Would love to hear your opinion on both.

I did not like the P730 at all to be quite honest with you. That could be a biased opinion due to the fact that I had my eye deadset on the Apex MB's from the second I saw pics of them. But I hit 10-15 balls with the P730's and I just didn't get the same feel, feedback or look at address. I'm telling you guys that I've never felt a blade that feels so pure / forgiving in one club.

Jesus christ, 220 with a bladed 6 iron. Good on you brother.

Hahahaha it was as pure a strike as it gets. I don't expect to produce that everytime, but hey, I'll certainly take it! As you can see, my dispersion was pretty tight with the new Apex MB's compared to my current RSi TP's. And here's a more accurate representation of the total swings I took with the Apex MB's.

The dispersion really tightened up. Looks like some very consistent numbers. I have gotten myself down to a single digit handicap this year but don't know if I could full time carry blades. I don't play for money or in tourneys so I may just say to hell with it. The looks make me happy.

Dude, I'm telling you these clubs are not only for scratch / plus handicaps!!! I'm a 2 handicap right now and although I strike the ball well most of the time, I still suffer from mishits every now and then and I did not mishit the Apex MB one time during the fitting. NOT ONE TIME! They are super forgiving for a MB

I just hit these at my club and played 5 holes. They’re nice. I really put the iron to test against my jpx 900 forged. I’m still not dropping my mizzys for these. I wasn’t getting anymore distance. I felt the feel I personally liked mizzy more. X forged is a nice looking club though. Clean and pure

How is the heel-to-toe length on the MB’s? What irons are they comparable to?

I think the MB’s have a similar size to the old razr MB’s but are a hair more rounded.

So, how much more costly would it be to get a set of raw shipped across the pond?

Retail options are the oil can (raw) and the bright chrome finish with 20V grooves for both finishes.

if you want a satin finish that can easily be achieved by someone with a bead blaster and some glass blasting beads.

Tape up the ferrule and shaft and away you go! :)
