I love fairway woods - actually have amongst others

9w - 28

13w - 34

15w - 37

I’ve got a 13w and 15w too that we’re my grandfathers...never put them in play though. Love my 9 wood as a 4 iron replacement.

What does the 13/15 replace?

Your dignity.

14 Pings. Blueprints are incredibly good. Fetch is the most underrated putter on the market. Don't @ me.

Technically I have two fairway woods. A 17* 3HL and I use a mini driver at 11 or 12 degrees. Every once in a while I hit the mini driver of the deck, but only because it is fun and I am an idiot.

F7 3-4w @14.5* is almost exclusively a tee club for a couple of tight par 4s at my home club... sometimes I'll try it if I'm way out on a wide par 5, but it's not reliable off the deck. F7 5-6w @ 17.5* on Baffler shaft is my normal off-the-deck fairway wood and not much shorter from the deck than the 3-4w. F7 4-5h at 22* slots ahead of Forged Tec 5i at 23*... I'd prefer a 21* hybrid but nothing in the Cobra line is capable of that loft with an open face.

I am going into my seventh season playing 4W and 7W. First season with original RBZ didn't work well - 45 gram shafts just too light, lots of left misses

I now play Alpha 815s (with decent XRails in reserve).

I carry a 4H, and am trying to decide between 7W and 3H.

Prior to 4W + 7W, I spent decade playing around with 3W + (Brand X 3H or Slazenger 5W or TM 4 Raylor, or X20T 3i). 7W blows ball out of medium rough, can be used off tee on tight hole (unless wind is blowing), and fills distance gap between 4W and 4H.

I'm currently doing launch monitor work with the my FWs and hybrids (all adjustable). I'm trying different loft settings and shaft lengths to determine what to play in future.

What's In The Bag (As of April 2023, post-MAX change + new putter)

Driver:  Tour Edge EXS 10.5° (base loft); weights neutral   ||  FWs:  Calla Rogue 4W + 7W

Hybrid:  Calla Big Bertha OS 4H at 22°  ||  Irons:  Calla Mavrik MAX 5i-PW

Wedges*:  Calla MD3: 48°... MD4: 54°, 58° ||  PutterΨSeeMore FGP + SuperStroke 1.0PT, 33" shaft

Ball: 1. Srixon Q-Star Tour / 2. Calla SuperHot (Orange preferred)  ||  Bag: Sun Mountain Three 5 stand bag

    * MD4 54°/10 S-Grind replaced MD3 54°/12 W-Grind.

     Ψ  Backups:

  • Ping Sigma G Tyne (face-balanced) + Evnroll Gravity Grip |
  • Slotline Inertial SL-583F w/ SuperStroke 2.MidSlim (50 gr. weight removed) |

All you guys playing multiple fairway woods, how much loft is between the clubs and what is the distance gap? Wondering if it worth having two.

4W - 16.5° - 240 yards

7W - 21° - 215 yards

Driver: Adams 9088

Fairways: TM V-Steel

Hybrids: Nickent 3DX

Irons: Maltby TE Forged

Wedges: Acer XB Satin

Putter: Odyssey White Steel #1

That is probably more than some have since the loft from 4wd to 7wd is greater obviously compared to a 3wd and 5wd setup! If you carry 3wd and 5wd, then the gap will probably be less. At least it would be for me when I carried both of those! Now just 4wd at 16 degrees and a 4H at 22 degrees!

3W 15.5* Epic SZ- 235-245, mainly a tee club, but will hit off the deck fine if I have a straight ahead shot. Can't shape it at all.

5W 17.5* Baffler- 210-220. My main fwy wood.

19.5* F7 Hybrid- 195 club

22* F7 hybrid- 185 Club

5-PW irons.

2* gaps in woods/hybrids give me proper gaps no problem. I tried 3*-4* and it was just too wide.

Present day I have driver, 3W, Heavenwood, 4H and so on (see signature for rest of bag). I find myself switching back and forth between the HW and 3H.

this is funny that this came up today as I purchased a 909 F2 18.5 today as I have been thinking of putting one in the bag. I was thinking of getting rid of the 2 utility but I hit that thing so well im not sure why I would. So like others have mentioned I will give the 5 wood a go on calmer days possible. I will be hitting the range with it before committing to playing it on the course. Never really hit a 5 wood before so im curious.

I don’t think playing multiple woods goes in and out of style. It’s more dependant on swing type, playing style, course conditions and course management strategies. I’ve seen many pga WItB with higher lofted woods when needed. Personally I have a problem hitting the ball too high with a steep AOA so the higher lofted woods don’t work well.
