New Ping Vault 2.0 putters (thanks, tod071)

Any word on whether Ping is going to have a weight kit available. Wrench socket tool and various weights? I've heard the different colored weights are 10, 15, 20 grams.

I doubt Ping would make a putter with weights and not have weight kits available in the near future.

The Anser looks just as good as any non-customized 009 aside from the bumper stamps. Not sure how people are knocking the shape of it. The face and bumpers are the only thing I can deduct points for but man, some of yall must be putter artisans to nit pick the overall shape.

The Redwood was a nice design but if Ping done two things differently they would have sold a lot more of them:

2) Produced them standard with a bead blasted (starshot) finish instead of that hideous black nickel...

Hideous you say????

Are people really banging in the shape of this Anser release, and praising this one??

The reason people are praising the Redwood is that many of us still play it several release-cycles later - it's all subjective, but the Redwood Anser has a great firm feel, and a solid, industrial look. It is its own variant on the Anser, and definitely has a cult following I own three of them in different finishes, including a prototype.

I haven't seen the new Dale Anser in person yet but criticism of it is more likely to be in relation to previous Daleheads and possibly to the finishes. Is it a better putter than, say, the BeNi Scottsdale Anser reissue?

I’m assuming that the Vault Dale Anser will feel very similar to the Vault Anser 2 and Voss. The feel of those putters are good but to me, not fantastic. The feel of the Redwood Anser is however for me, fantastic. Not knocking the Vault range at all because they are good putters and look amazing. But if the Anser Dale (and I think most likely) feels very similar to the Vault Anser 2 and Voss, I’ll be keeping my Redwood Anser in the bag.

Have a Redwood that i randomly bought on a whim in the used rack of the local GG. Ended up winning a local AM event with it, along with my CC. Such a great putter. Hoping the Dale head is a worthy option. I had the Vault VOsS and just couldnt keep it in the bag. Didnt seem to hang in the feel and roll department. Hoping the Dale head is different...

Never thought I would have a putter collection, but here we are. Think I'll go with an anser platinum @33"/350 grams with a blackout pingman grip. Oh my.

I think the grip on the original Vault really hurt its adoption, because the grip muted / killed the feel.

I ordered the Voss with the PP58 midsize and its magical. Hated it with the standard grip.

I liked the Redwood, and putted for a while with a starshot Anser. I also liked the BeNi Scottsdale Anser and Anser 2 releases. All I'm saying is there are a lot of people banging on a putter they haven't even seen in person, and seems to look like a really solid effort.

These look nice to me, and I'm so pleasantly surprised a company is actually offering the option of a lighter than standard head weight as well as heavier! Can't believe I can order the ZB with the aluminum weights to get the head to 335g. Perfect! Think I'll have to give one a try.

Doesn't matter much, but out of curiosity, does anyone know which color weights are the standard, -15g and +15g?

Thanks,

M

I may be way off base here but can you interchange the weights to manipulate the toe hang? Say put a heavier weight on the toe and leave the heel side a lighter weight?

I know these haven’t been released yet but I know some people on here are staffers and others can get their hands on equipment before its released. Has anyone rolled the Dale Anser alongside the Voss 1.0 or the Anser 2?

I was a bit disappointed with the Vault Voss and the Anser 2 as I felt that they were muted and a little dead off the face. For the record, I tried both these with the midsize PP58 and still felt they were unresponsive.

Am I naive to think that the Dale Anser will feel more solid and more responsive compared to the Vault and Anser 2?

Logic would tell me that the feel would be very similar but I’m hoping to be proved wrong.

Any news on an official release date yet?

Screw the putters, I want that sweet camo bag!

Thanks for the release date info.

Anyone know what model the bag is - I agree it looks great although I want a putter too.

I think the Dale Anser will feel very similar to those 2 putters. Was there any major difference in feel when comparing the PING Anser Milled 1 to the Anser Milled 2? I don’t think there was.

I may be way off base here but can you interchange the weights to manipulate the toe hang? Say put a heavier weight on the toe and leave the heel side a lighter weight?

I have seen people do it. But I do believe you would slightly move the sweet spot a bit. I would hope that Ping makes sure to put the sight line or dot right above the sweet spot, but by changing the center of gravity with different weights, you would move it a little and the line or dot would be off. If it's enough for you to actually be able to tell, I can't say. Or maybe you could tell but would learn to adjust anyways.

I also don't think you get all the weights with these putters along with your purchase, you have to order which weights you want and only get those, which of course makes it more expensive to experiment.

Thanks! Sounds like I should schedule a fitting with Ping and experiment with all of the options there.

PING have turned into the TaylorMade's of 2018 - 3 sets of irons inside the past twelve months, new wedges & putters every few months. What has happened to their business model of a new model every 18 months? Their loyal customers will not be happy watching their premium investments going down in value as fast as TM's.

Nope. Nice try. PING still replaces clubs on an 18 month cycle. The G700 seem like a one-off set which they occasionally do. They stagger releases so new irons are released once or twice per year. The Glide 2.0 were released a year ago and they always have a few models of putters. Nothing new here and Ping clubs will continue to hold their value.

True statement, mostly. PING said the changes in what they did were significant enough to go off-cycle. Many of the things they are doing are in response to customer and pro feedback. Pro's wanted a blacked out wedge? They get it. Larger driver? Done. No sense in keeping it Tour only when you're a business and trying to turn a profit. PING is probably the most consistent and reliable on releases. Also much of this is probably from the younger Solheim to make his mark and step out of the older's shadow. Modern looking clubs were very much needed. I went to PING last year (for the second time) and couldn't be happier. They'll always hold their value because they not only have a loyal customer base, but they will not give anything away or discount a thing. They're militant in protecting their brand and will pull an account in a heartbeat.

Er, is your maths not up to scratch? PING i200 Jan 2017, then the 400's about six months later and now 700's Jan 2018. i200's have been falling in value on eBay for the past three months and now they will fall further.
