Best 3 iron or driving iron

I carry a 3h and 4h currently. Interested to hear which long irons people find to be the most accurate and still easy to be consistent with. I want to add a 3 iron or similar for a few reasons.

1) I love irons in general. Love how they feel. So I think I should at least try a 3 iron and compare it to my hybrids.

2) I hit my hybrids prett well, but my shot dispersion is good enough to find the fairway but rarely to a hit the green from 200+ yards.

3) I think a 3 iron would be a good practice club for grooving my swing.

 

So I'm interested in people who've tried different 3 irons and found one that was better.

I can only comment about the Titleist

 

T-mb, good feel, great launch and distance. Not the most workable

 

AP2, super forgiving, doesn't matter which part of the face the ball hits it goes. Not much feel.

 

CB. Just incredible, feel, workability, good distance reasonable forgiveness.

I picked up a Srixon u45 3h this off-season and this far am very impressed with it. Consistency of a iron but so easy to hit.

I’ve got a used G15 in the bag.

 

Need to stick a graphite shaft in it and get the lie adjusted, but man does it find fairway lol

I've only hit the 4 iron from Mizuno's MMC Fli-Hi line, but I really liked it...I have a 4 iron and 3 iron on the way from Mizuno.

 

I did like the 716 T-MB a lot when I hit a used one at the shop, but if you're coming from hybrids, the Fli-Hi have a little wider sole and seem to have a lower CoG...easier to launch and get really high in the air, which is what I want in a long iron...no desire to hit low, penetrating, boring shots with long irons....if I'm swinging a long iron, it's because I'm trying to hit a number with as little roll out as possible.

The Taylormade UDI's are really nice but I don't think they make them anymore. Can pick them up on eBay though.

The new m3 and m4 would make a great driving iron. We got to test out DJs m4 on the TwistFaceExperience trip, although it's big, it inspires alot of confidence. I think m4 only goes to 4i, m3 makes 3 and 4i.

Has anyone tried out a P790 3 iron as a driving iron? Seems like it could be a bomber, although maybe the ball flight would be a bit high.

 

My RSi1 fires lasers but the clubhead feels terrible, even on flushed shots, and I've already cracked the face inserts once. I'm more or less waiting for the inserts on the new head TM sent me to crack as well so I can upgrade, because they aren't sturdy whatsoever.

My Srixon Z745 3i has been one of the easiest 3 irons I have hit yet... Just picked up a 716 AP2 3 iron and it's good but not as easy as the 745. May even want to look at the 545/65 3i. I didn't get along with the U45 at all.

I have the P790 3 iron, and I love it. Have it with the KBS Tour 120 in it. Ball flight is med-low, and runs for a while too, im hitting about 250ish yards with it at about 100mph swing speed. I will be ordering the 2 UDI as soon as its available!

I have the TM RSI TP UDI 18 is long and very forgiving. The callaway UT also long and forgiving but I like the UDI at address and match my whole set.

MP Fli Hi is as good as any driving iron and is quite a bit cheaper.

+1 for the Mizuno Fli-Hi, Ive got the Fli-Hi 3 iron bent to 17.5* and it fills a gap and seems effortless when hitting it.

Not being biased, but like PXG 0311X, srixon has a few nice 3’s that make good driving irons.

Callaway Apex UT is nice. I get along well with the longer irons so I usually play a 3i. My last set of irons were offered 4i-pw so I picked up a 21deg UT and it’s done quite well.
