The New Master's Womens Amateur Championship

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I made a few posts criticizing the format of this tournament and the way ANGC is handling it. All of a sudden I got a number of new friends ( who must also be members of ANGC) popping out of the woodwork to ~~attack ~~ debate me left and right.

The ~~attack~~ arguments mainly falls into three categories:

1, "ANGC is a private club and they can do whatever they please"

DUH. That goes without saying. It is their course, their club , their tournament. Heck , they could cancel next week's Masters and tell everyone to go home if they want to. But I am not sure this argument adds anything meaningful to the table.

2, "ANGC went out of their way to create this, yet you people are still unappreciative"

On the contrary, I commended them for taking this giant first step when they announced it last year. I don't expect it to be perfect in the first try, but I holding out hope that Fred Ridley will make the right adjustment. That said , I don't believe that puts them above any criticism.

3, Labeling ( hater, jealous etc )

After all, it is the first rule of internet forums , right ? But for some reason I detect some sort of undertone in those naming calling. as if I am trying to advance some kind of agenda/entitlement. Without violating the forum policy , I will leave it at that.

In the end, I have to say I am surprised by the place that a golf club would hold in some people's mind. Or maybe it represents something more than golf.

Its more than likely simple logistics and course prep. No big conspiracy or snub against anyone.

It's really humorous reading some of those comments when there are 70 young ladies having the time of the life and making a special memory for themselves. But yea, let's **** all over that and the organization that made it happen.

Playing well has its benefits. Those that didnt make it still get to play the course and will learn a valuable life lesson that they are probably already aware of and obviously much more aware of than a few posting here.

Odd that you claim to understand all of that but still made all of those ridiculous posts and comments like the last part of your #2. What is "the right thing?" Maybe before posting again read #1 over and over again and then step away from the keyboard.

Wait, if I am understanding you correctly, you are saying that since ANGC is a private organization, therefore I cannot criticize them ?

I am free to criticize whomever I please. And ANGC is also absolutely free to ignore my criticism and tell me to go F myself.

I thought this is how the free world works.

Hey 4way , just like me and everybody else your thinking on how the free world works is skewed by zeolousness, selfishness, upbringing and DNA. At first I thought you were just messing with us or pulling our chain if you will. Just started posting on here myself but have been appreciating and gleaning knowledge from your posts for years. Whose right or who is wrong is hard to determine in these days we live in but in this thread you are in the minority with your point of view.

Don't try to understand. It doesn't seem to be your strength on this topic.

Ceremonial tee shots from Annika, Lorena, Nancy Lopez and Se Re was a nice touch.

Gotta admit, these girls are not being overwhelmed by this course or the greens.

A few wayward shots and putts tha ran long and wide, but not really much different to what you see at The Masters from time to time. I'm impressed with the number of quality shots that get close, and some pretty fearless putting.

Pretty impressive.

The last two women's events I've watched are new, this tournament and last year's US Senior Women's Open.

My uncle goes to the Masters every year and usually is on the grounds from Monday on. He’s there today and he texted me that this is the poorest condition he can remember seeing ANGC. I admit that in just 30 minutes of watching this I’ve noticed more blemishes than I can recall in the past. I wonder if they are jamming too much into these few weeks.

Pretty good so far. I admit, I was not crazy about the idea of AN opening up for other events. But this is a natural fit for Augusta and can be a boost to the girls game. I give this event a big thumbs up.

So they allowed cell phones on the course today unlike during the Masters? Don't think so.

You both obviously have better eyes than I do.
