Has anyone repainted their low groove? I'm going to re-do some of mine and have a tutorial to do so but, not sure if anyone else has had the experience. Any particular brand of paint (enamel) you recommend or prep?

Thanks

I have not done S55's specifically but did my wife's PING clubs...  I used Tester's enamel model paint.  It has held up surprisingly well...

Testors flat white enamel is what I use.

Cerakote.

Sandblast, paint the line with cerakote paint, and bake @ 250-300*F. for 2 hours.

It'll last as long, if not longer, than when it came from Phoenix.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I’m an S56 guy too. I did a Ping tour van fitting at my course a couple years ago and the fitter told me to keep my S56 unless I really wanted a new set of clubs - the results between them and the iblade were too close for him to make a real case for switching. We shall see if the i59 are really all that, but they’re going to have to be special to justify that price tag.

I put the I59 down by my S55. Theres a few things I like a little better including the amount of grooves, a flatter finish, etc. but, the S55 still has it for me. I'm still in my honeymoon phase with mine.

Now that iBlades are retired, it'll be interesting to see how many players on tour stick with them vs S55s. It aways impresses me when guys who use clubs for $ play an older model, especially when they aren't on staff (like Carlos Ortiz and Matt Fitzpatrick).

Regardless, I still love my S55s. Still haven't found another head this small with as much forgiveness.

Sorry if this question is redundant but I am pulling the shafts that came in my S55 as they are too stiff.  Problem is, the new SW are not exactly close.. so far the 8 and PW are at D3 with midsize grips, but the 6i is closer to D4.5 ish.  Not terrible, but if I decide to send these to Ping, they can adjust the SW by replacing the elastomer I believe?  Without pulling the heads and such apart?  Anyone had them reduce SW?

I sent a set off to have the lofts/lies/ and swing weights done. I am almost positive they just replace the elastomer weight to establish swing weights. When I rebuilt my previous set, I didn't even bother with tip weights or anything. Just sent them off to PING and told them what I want. I'm working on acquiring a set right now and plan on doing the same thing when I rebuild them. I should mention that the pricing for this work by them was incredibly reasonable, too (assuming that they haven't raised repair prices). Only took about a week and a half, too.

Thanks!!!  Yeah, that's what I am thinking of doing as well....  Just build them and send them out.  At closer look, there seems to be bend marks as well, so I will have them do everything.  Thanks for the info, I was pretty sure that's what they did but before I get too crazy with tip weights, I wanted to check.  Cheers!

Very curious and interested! Can you go into the "little more punch" explanation? Thanks!

I think they may be lower spin because I definitely get more distance and a more penetrating flight out of the S55.  The iblade may be slightly more accurate but the S55 have been great for me since I put them back in the bag.

Picked up a set of i525 with same (KBS Tour S) shafts in Florida and finally decided to leave my S56 down there. Here’s hoping…

Has anyone ordered replacement irons? Can you still only order 2 per season? How did it go? I’d love to freshen up the set.

Thanks!

Yes. Only 2 replacements per serial number (not season). At least that's according to several customer service people I've spoken to. If you have a friendly rep, you might get a slightly different story, as in 3 replacements instead of 2, but it sounds pretty locked down at this point.
