Bertuccis makes a surprisingly good pizza for a chain, real good crust. My wife had the Food Network on yesterday and they did a clip on this place in Baltimore that makes their pizza in a coal fired oven. Pretty sure they said it gets close to 2000 degrees and can fully cook their personal size pizzas in 30 seconds. Wish I could remember the name.

Same with mine, she said AAMC is doing cautionary planning for a surge in June. I know people are probably worn out by daily updates but now that MD has a huge volume of tests available the gov said they're going to use hospitalizations as the metric to track, which look like they're starting to stabilize.

I've never been so happy to see it chilly, windy, and rainy outside. Golf season is still young.

Bertuccis is great place for sure. Always enjoy their food and a sucker for bread and olive oil before the meal

That shot on 8 is one of the toughest shots on the course. If the pin is up, you can land the ball short of the green and it will run on. Back and middle right you have to fly the ball to the hole, off that steep downslope, playing not just the lie, but adjusting for the drop. I play out there regularly with low cap members who mess up that shot frequently. A lot players (myself included) play iron off that tee and lay up on the flat at about 100y.

The ridge is the aspect that makes that second shot hard for me, if you catch that thing with any momentum it can dang near run off the green. So however you play it you have to deal with it, and from 100, 50, or greenside it can be a b*tch. For such a fairly inviting hole from the tee that lures you to pull driver and give it a go, it has some really good subtle protections in the downhill lie, awkward distances, and the green that really make a birdie well earned.

no doubt it's not an easy shot. but i didn't like misjudge it or something. i hit a chunk that MAY have traveled 40 yards. including roll.

it's an interesting hole. it would be super annoying to hit a little bleeding cut into the trees but if you rotate my drive right i'm pretty close to my green. i'm at least to where I played my third shot from!

I give the course very high marks. It was a great course to play after a long lay off because there is so much room on every tee shot. The greens were shockingly firm for all the rain we've had. i love courses with "rolling" hills. Not like annoying mountain courses but some up and down.

sometimes not knowing the course does pay off for you. I'm on the 18 tee boxes wondering where the green is? clearly it's not right because you can see all this fairway over the pond. so assuming it goes left i hit the ball right over the edge of the trees on the left of the tee box and over the bunker. i was in the left rough not far from the high grass and had a little 8 iron left. that makes a par 5 easier lol.

Someone link a satellite shot with the appropriate distances and whatnot marked off, please. gimme gimme gimme dat golf.

Ever sinceI made that tee time for saturday, I'm starting to feel like a junkie who just scored under a bridge and I'm walking back to my under-furnished flat to shoot up.

But finally I've learned this: If you're too careful, your whole life can be a fucking grind

there's a balance to the whole thing. i agree that i generally trust hogan's decision making. i think he's listening to the right people, balancing the right objectives, and making what he considers the best possible decisions. you can't ask for anything else.

Bull-Run-Number-8yellow line is my best approximation of my tee shot

black line is the same distance tee shot on a better line. keep in mind the hole plays downhill. i could carry the trees a decent % of time IMO. it's just the risk of the ball leaking. i don't remember the wind direction. I think it was blowing right to left

blue dot on the green is where the pin was

that looks like a good hole. is it driveable given the downhill nature of it?

google maps only has it at about 280 yards to the front edge and lots of room to bail out left.

2More, would you compare the approach shot to H6 when you get one over the top? Is it that steep? that's what it sounds like.

Its drivable but its not an easy shot. While there is technically room to bail out left, if you're banging D, that fairway ends @ 230 yards, so a pulled driver is going to be gone. Pushed right is dead too, all that "rough area" to the right of the green also cants right, so anything that hits down there is hoping into the junk.

Here's a pic from golfadvisor. This is a little deceiving though, I think this is from the up tee box, or if its the main tee box its certainly from the far left of the tee box or even off of it by the looks of it. From the blue or black tee box, those trees come into play even more. Shows you that "hump" just short of the green. You might think if you hit that it will run down to the green - but it doesnt.

From that tee box, it's only driveable for the longest among us, and you have to play a fade. The markers are usually on the right hand side of the box, so the trees block direct access to the green. Honestly, I don't see that many people left greenside left, as so few actually go for it. My recollection is that it's pretty gnarly, and not an easy up and down. I've played there maybe 50 times and only gone for the green twice, once being from the up tees w/3w.

So this picture angle with the edge of the tree in line with the center of the green definitely looks like its from the up tee.

But if you're back on the main tee box, you can sort of picture what it might look like from up there.

So, from the "one up" box, where the "A" is in DC's second pic, the play is a fade off the far fairway bunker? Or maybe a 225 yard shot OVER the near fairway bunker gets you a flat shot?

Is this the course where the guy had like 3 holes in one, or a scramble team shot 57 a few years ago in some solstice tournament?

also, the overhead is different than the pic from the tees. There's only 1 fairway bunker in the overhead.

They filled in one of the FW bunkers on the right hand side a couple years ago.

No, that was Laurel Hill where the guy had 3 HIOs

Anything over the near side FW bunker or right of it gives you a pretty severe downhill lie/likely partial wedge. My ideal line is pretty much DC's yellow line with a slight fade. You probably have about 15 yards to the right of his line before you get the downslope.

less steep by a good bit in comparison the 5h. if it was a warm day with no wind and you gave me ten balls i could get a couple near the front. i think i could carry a ball onto the green from the one up box. monday it was cold, windy and the air was heavy. ball was going no where.

i don't think i'm aggressive enough in my lines off the tee sometimes. i aim too far away from trouble. but it seems like anything that is in trouble right is F-. So why try to get a shot that's 20-40 yards shorter. the risk for me is unlikely worth the reward. BUT. i also know when i'm swinging well and when i'm not. this is the type of hole where my aim spot should change based on how i'm swinging. that single tree to me is the line if i had to pick one for all time.
