LeBron is 3-6 in the Finals to MJ's perfect 6-0. That's a pretty glaring hole in his resume. LeBron is a remarkable talent and physical specimen but his mental game isn't on MJ's level. The ability to find that extra gear when it matters most. For me, the closest athlete to having MJ's killer instinct would probably be Tiger 1999-2008

Problem today is ... players are defined by their eras on how they play, how they are played or how they are portrayed

Keep in mind, I'm not suggesting anything nefarious at all, like he bet on our against his own team. But I've heard enough stories of Jordan's legal pursuits from a couple of higher end gamblers in Vegas to know that if you told me a story about Jordan betting 6 figures on some NBA games, I wouldn't not believe it.

I think there is definitely a middle ground between him being suspended for something along the lines of what you wrote - IE him betting on Bulls games - and "I want to leave behind my $30M a year contract as the GOAT of GOATS and now I really want to go play AA baseball for the White Sox".

Media Talk Friday :

I was recently turned onto a show on Netflix called "Babylon Berlin". It takes place in Germany in 1929. It was the most expensive German TV show ever.

Anyway, 3 episodes in, and it's REALLY good. So far, it's several storylines that are loosely tied together but you can see them coming together eventually.

Then central characters are a couple of cops, one a veteran of WWI who has the "trembles" -- he's been sent to Berlin from the sticks for a "reason" (no spoilers), a poor girl who gets temp work in the police station, pornographers, and Russian Trotskyites. The end of the second episode is a montage of about 3 different scenes all hitting a crescendo at the same time. It was an incredible episode.

I always forget Dark. I watched the first season and then got lost in a dozen other shows. First season was good.

Worthington is petitioning the governor again for courses to re-open. He is being very cautious, as he should be. 900 new cases yesterday and 31 new deaths statewide. 19,500 total cases and 850 deaths. Over 3800 cases in MoCo and over 5200 cases in PG alone. I don't think the governor will rush it.

Rookie mistake from TVJ yesterday. He texts me, "Quail Valley saturday. 6:44AM or 2:12?"

I tell him, "let's do 6:44".

He texts me back, "oh, now they're both taken."

pro-tip : when a course has 2 tee times left, take them both and cancel one later.

I hadn't even been jonesing to play, but once I got the invite for a place an hour a way, I wanted to. I figured play at 6:44, maybe finish around 10:15, be home by 11:30. Nice. But, it's not to be.

My wife's hospital is owned by Hopkins so I get all of their news. I know it is very skewed towards their views. My wife is working 12 hour (or more) a day and is wiped out. She does think we've seen the worst and that Maryland will start to re-open in a couple of weeks

i played yesterday. the last week or so i was kinda wondering why playing golf has such a positive effect on my mental state. It's just a handful of hours. and i've been doing other stuff and enjoying it. why does golf reduce my stress? am i making that up? I told FABB that it just got me away from everything for a couple hours. pause

so yesterday i play bull run. I don't know the course. on 8 i can basically hit driver as far as i want if i don't try to cut the corner. I get out there and have an 85 yard shot to a back pin. The ball is on a downslope. The green looks like it's going to release the ball back to the hole. so i'm thinking do i hit 54 or 60? where do i land it? one guy i'm playing with is a looking for a ball in the woods. one guys shot was going at the corner and he's looking. now there are guys on the tee. how did they get there?? we haven't seen anyone all day. oh maybe i should hit my ball. MEGA chunk. no up and down bogeyunpause so i'm driving into work this morning thinking about that shot. everyone hits bad shots. but that was basically a shot i never hit. how in the world did that happen? The short answer is lack of commitment. Never picked a club, a spot, adjust for the slope, NOTHING. just hurriedly swung. How does that relate to my mental state? Well I have a lot of to think about for work today. Problems to deal with, planning to do, lots of phone calls. the normal stuff. But driving into work i was thinking about that crappy wedge shot and not everything i have to do. Golf isn't just a break for the 4 hours. It gives me something else healthy to think about throughout the day. Add in being outdoors and the social aspect of it and no wonder it's so good for my mindset.

if you're a marylander not playing, you're low risk, and your stress levels have been elevated ... go play a round of golf. it'll be good for you.

Finally got online with Sterling, Tex and Sigel last night.

First of all, what are the odds that Tex's Call of Duty character wears a big cowboy hat?

Correct, the odds are 495%.

So I dig out my old headset, I had bought it years ago when my brother and I first played Fifa. Plugged it in, for the first half hour, no one could hear anything. Took me that long to remember that the ludicrously long cord had an inline mute switch that was switched on. (HELLO FELLOW KIDS) But - its just nice to get your mind off the real world crap for a couple hours. And what am I going to watch, replays of some random golf tournament? I finally had to break away when Bertuccis brought pizza over.

So a couple of guys in our normal Tuesday night mens league (which is currently on hold) decided to start an unofficial Wednesday night league this week while we were waiting for the club to get back to normal and crank up the Tuesday league. I figured we would get a dozen guys - we ended up getting 40. Two teams of 20, different/fun 9 hole formats each week. I'm always thankful when someone takes the time to plan something like that because I know I'm going to enjoy it but I would also never try to plan something like that on my own.

pause - 2more, that is never an easy shot. I've played there a bunch and IMO the best solution is chipping a PW and letting it run down to the hole. With the downslope there are just a lot of things that can go wrong there.

You know what you are suppose to do but sometimes it just doesn’t work... like in golf.
