What Does Callaway Have In Store For 2019?

Recommended Posts

Looks like Rogue was a one and done if I had to speculate.

how'd you make that leap??? Especially considering most companies are on a 18-24 month product cycle.

Color schemes in my imagination are all the same as the original GBB Epic, with any mention of Rogue wiped out across the line after it failed relative to expectations if I had to guess and speculate only.

Was the Rogue that big of a flop? I'm not in the golf business so I'm not privy Tony sales numbers but I personally think the Rogue SZ I'm playing now is day and night better than the Epic SZ I played last year.

If you have pictures of the newplease don’t post them. We all know they’re gonna get taken down and all you’re doing is putting your sales reps job in jeopardy.

I know we all want to see the new product but it’s just not worth it.

I wonder the same. I see a lot of Epics out in the wild and only one or two Rogues last year. I got a Rogue as a replacement to a broken Epic. Performance was similar. Looks and feel were a downgrade in my opinion. The shape was very pancake like and it felt like the lie was too flat. Didn't care for the feel of the ball off the face either. But, I hit it just as well as I hit the Epic. But, a driver has to visually instill confidence for me to use it long term. Got rid of the Rogue at the beginning of our off-season and started to build up funds to purchase the Epic Flash or another OEM's option.

Long story short, I personally liked the Epic much better and didn't see very many Rogues in play.

I haven't hit the epic because I like thinner faces top to bottom, I play the Rogue. If this was a one and done I'd be surprised this thing is stupid good. I just put some hot melt in and it sounds like the old TP510. I know they have to hype the newest as best but I don't see it being better especially at $549.00. If they promote oh that Rogue sucked here's the real deal... Thye're gonna talk me out of a set of Apex's.

Oh, I don't think they would ever downplay the effectiveness of their old models. They may state that they have improved upon them (what OEM doesn't). Pure speculation, but, I almost wonder if the release would go Epic, Rogue, Epic, Rogue. It seems odd to me that the two lineups would be so drastically different in appearance only to go back to their head shape from two years ago.

The Rogue never lived up to the expectations! The Epic was, Epic I guess! If the Flash is more forgiving then the Epic and picks up a couple yards, watch out world.

Maybe for you. I played the Epic and fell instantly in love with the Rogue. The Epic set the standard but the Rogue was no slouch...

Epic is replacement for Epic, Rogue was more of a replacement for the XR line. They are both on 2 year cycles. But as seen with the Epic, once the Rogue hit the shelves, the sales on Epic dwindled, as more were going after Rogue as it was newer and more forgiving across the board. Loved my Epic SZ but Rogue SZ was quite a bit more forgiving for me. New Epic is looking amazing and much like the older Epic line shape wise, can't wait to try the new SZ against my Rogue SZ and see if they upped it again!! New tech is very interesting, but testing will see if it bears the fruit they are saying it will.

Ive seen all the product

It looks good

EPIC Flash SZ - 460cc head, Great look face angle wise from address, smaller looking profile than the EPIC SZ. Deeper face, more rounded, pear shape from address. Weights are good, like the idea of a sliding weight track with this head. Paint scheme is fine if youre into African/Jamaican flag color schemes or the Green Bay Packers. On a more serious note...this driver will have Adjustable weight, Slideable weight, Adjustable Hosel, Jailbreak Tech, and a face that can only be replicated using a proprietary 10,000 dollar super computer making it a.) the first face of its kind b.) Un-copyable by competitors, c.) a face that literally has AI built into it. The results have been 3-4 mph ball speed increases across all player types. Get ready world...here comes the EPIC Flash!

EPIC Flash Fway Woods - great looking clubs. Adjustable hosels like original EPIC SZs. Wider array of lofts now with a 7 wood and 9 wood.

Apex Hybrid - Same as the old one, except with adjustable hosel...very nice matte grey crown.

Apex Pro Irons - p790 competitors for sure. Cup Face Tech with a plastic tungsten sleeve behind the face. Fully expect more consistent ball speeds from all strikes all over the face. Decent looking from address, not horrid looking with the touch of offset these have. Topline is thicker than I hoped, but nothing worse than what is offered in the competitive space for these, ie 790s, King Cobra Tec

PM Grind 2.0s - reminded me of the TM HighToe stuff, jury is still out. Would need to hit these. I prefer the MD 4 Raw Wedges, so its hard to judge these objectively. Theres a badge on the club...i dont get that move asthetically.

Big Bertha 2019s - Great for Dad...make him feel like its 1996 again when he hit the ball 20 yds farther than everyone with those BIG BERTHA Irons that looked like toasters on a stick. 23 years removed from those 96s...yes, the future was indeed looking bright for BIG BERTHA Irons. These look good!

Stroke Lab Putters - Interesting...sort of bringing a niche JDM product to the states in a full line of putters. Versa paint schemes, and Odyssey is going ALL IN on the White Hot Microhinge. The classic OWorks insert will remain in Odyseey lore. Nice designs. The flowneck mallet craze is in full swing. Nice job on making a variety of short slant necks and longer flownecks. Odyssey is capturing both the technologically advanced market and performance based market. These setup dead square and lead the field in feel, sound and roll. And then, you have the new Toulons...Palm Beach and Las Vegas...good luck Scotty.

I thought the new Apex hybrid will be a bonded hosel? I sure hope that it’s adjustable.

Chrome soft ball will stay the same...bringing a new mid line ball to compete with AVX. Fwy woods are bonded so no adjustment. New Apex line in both Apex and Apex Pro...both available in Smoke finish as well as chrome...they are sick.

The fwys are adjustable.

I was told adjustable for apex hybrids. Everything I saw I was told had a "subject to change" disclaimer attached to it, including paint schemes and technology.

The big bertha hybrids are definitely adjustable. Apparently, the actual adapters have been reduced in weight and dont go in as deep...possible increase in breakage rates I was told could alter decisions on going with adjustable or bonded. I would fully expect backorder issues this year on the apex hybrids.

2 yrs ago year, i saw an epic 460 and 440 with a solid black top and no graphics, and was told "this is not what you will get at your store".

Probably why OEMS hate leaks and early threads like these since all the contrary information being posted that consumers who don’t know better will quote and share believing it’s right. Posts saying new hybrids are bonded then posts right after saying they’re adjustable. Same with what will be the new fairways; one post saying adjustable and one right after saying no it’s bonded.

@Tdk8180, the Apex Pro’s are too compete with the 790’s and so on? So the standard Apex is going to compete with? Are the standard Apex huge? How about the the blade length on the Apex’s?

Regardless of the information being at times contradictory, I would like to thank all of you in the industry and close enough to it to comment and make this thread. It is threads like this that make this site so awesome!

I wish I could share more but I don't want to get me, or my rep in trouble!

Going to be an awesome lineup for 2019 though. Apparently I'm supposed to receive my driver head just after thanksgiving, and many other staffers will too. If that's the case I'm sure you'll see a bunch of pictures get put up well before the embargo lifts. I'm sure Callaway know this and is OK with it.....will be HYPED marketing.

Fairways are adjustable. At least the one I hit was. And a player I know is waiting for them to drop to buy one. He didn’t buy rogue because it was bonded. Personally I prefer bonded. But doesn’t matter really.

When will the embargo be lifted on the new PM wedges? That is the only club I have not seen from the new line.

You aren’t missing much. They ruined the sole and other than milled face it’s same. Don’t know why you’d change the greatest sole grind ever.

That is not the news I wanted to hear. I am also hearing they have added an awful looking badge to it too...

The wedge, while successful, wasn't a great fit for everyone. I'm personally looking forward to the replacement as I didn't care much for the original.
