I think they look fine.

Do they both have the same grey/black crown as the M3/M4? Forgive me if I missed the answer amongst the 30 pages in this thread..

Maybe they'll perform, but on looks alone I'd go with the TS3 over any of the other new models.

Says the all Titleist bag... All in good fun, but I kinda agree with you too. I'm pretty confident they'll look better in person, they always do, but they don't look real appealing right now.

Still an easy pass with that crown. I prefer the look of the m2 17 version the best. The crown with the silver has nothing but made this driver look cheap.

I feel the opposite. Having had the M1 and now the M3, the M3 looks better to me. I've always thought the white on the Taylormade is and looks cheap. I had to buy touchup paint for the M1. Not an issue with the M3.

I still think the 17 M1 and M2 were the best looking. Relatively simple on the sole with a color scheme that popped but was still fairly plain. I don't mind the crown of these. I'll test them against my M1 but I think the Mizuno, at least right now, is most appealing to me just from looks. I'll maybe try a Titleist again but I've never had luck there.

All of this talk about the looks....let’s not judge a book by its cover. If it performs buy it. If it doesn’t, don’t!

If something doesn’t look good I along with a lot of golfers aren’t even going to try it.

New TS line is legit.

Love my TS2. It’s going to take a lot of something fierce to kick it out of my bag.

Now we just need pics of the m5 440 and m6 rocket fairway

I asked about the “rocket” fwy. I was told it’s just a 14* 3 wood. No special design.

Thank you Sir. I cant keep up with all the posts on here!

I like it. If the M5 performs I could easily see it in my bag next year.

Hit a few absolute cheeseburgers with my M4 today, but always looking for a little extra ketchup.

The crowns on the ‘17 are the best to me. If I had to pick a best sole I’d go with the OG M2, though my ‘17 M2 sole looks pretty good blacked out. The M5 & M6 look hideous to me, but I’ll reserve final judgement until they’re in my hands. But yeah, they look cheap.

In recent years, TM and several other brands has tended to go 'overboard' in the creation of 'visible technology'. The main reason for this is because it provides the company with something to build a marketing campaign around!

Whether such 'new visible tech' actually works or not is far less important than the marketing campaign surrounding that visible technology. The goal of the marketing campaign is to convince the buyer that it their latest 'gimmick' does work!

TM knows 'the consumer 'wants to believe' in some kind of 'techno-magic', and therefore is quite 'susceptible' to most any kind of campaign claim TM chooses to make.

However, the fact remains that COR/CT has been maxed out for quite some time now, so any claimed 'breakthrough' related to distance gains is a tougher sell these days. Still, TM does need to come up with 'something' that at least gives 'the appearance of a breakthrough' each and every year!

It was very interesting that last year TM actually emphasized accuracy over distance with the M3/M4 'Twist Face', and associated ad campaign, but TM still knows that what sells their drivers is the 'promise of more distance', whether or not the company can actually deliver it. Don't be surprised whena they go back to that kind of campaign theme for their new 2019 models.

The good news is that at least you don't hear TM claiming 15 more yards with each new model now!. Despite the 'gullibility' of the consumer, TM finally does understand they can no longer get away such ridiculous and extreme distance claims anymore!

It's easy to get carried away with the prospect of new toys, especially at this time of the year, but when shopping for a driver you need to have some specific goals in mind:

To maximize your (average) driving distance, find a clubhead that delivers the trajectory and spin rate you want, along with the degree of forgiveness that you need. After that, focus on getting the best shaft for your particular swing via a shaft fitting!

The measure of success for any driver purchase is based on these (2) questions"

1 - Did it increase your driving distance AVERAGE?

2- Did it increase your percentage of fairways hit?
