It's looking good so far. I've had more 7 & 8 sightings this year than in any previously. In fact I'm a bit worried that if I see too much of them they'll lose their lustre.

I don't really have an issue with the celebrities...even though they're all well past their sell-by date.

 

It's watching some senior executive (Patron?) play that is unwatchable...though he did make a nice two on seven!

Just an update to everyone railing on all of us complaining about the coverage and format of this tournament, there are some awesome golfers shooting some really good numbers today, and we are practically seeing none of it.

 

So, yeah, go AT&T Pro Am.

Oh, and also, I had to listen to a few minutes of one of the GC announcers fawning over how great of a week this is for the pros because they get to meet the industry titans behind all of the corporate sponsors that fuel the PGA Tour.

 

I’m not saying that isn’t reality, because it certainly is reality, but we don’t need it shoved down our throats. Awesome professional golf makes the tour, not companies like Workday, AT&T and Valero.

"So history was made today," said Mickelson. "To the best of my knowledge it's taken me 27 years and a few months to hit all fairways in a single round in a competition. I may have done it before but I don't ever recall doing it."

He was off by six years, per Golf Channel senior researcher Justin Ray, who pointed out that Lefty had last accomplished the feat in 1998 at Torrey Pines.

 

It would be great to see him win again, especially after the blown chance earlier this year. But I fear there is still 54 holes for him to screw something up.

 

I hope there is enough gas left in the tank when the US Open comes back this way in June (granted the course plays dramatically different then).
