Same exact blade length heel to toe? I was under the impression the Pro is slightly shorter and that the sole is slightly thinner. Not so?

Nope. At least that's what Jason told me. Offset and thinner topline are the only differences.

Looking at the two hand in hand, if I didn't know what I was looking for, I may not even have noticed what the difference was. It's very subtle.

One of the many reasons I love this site. You guys are giving valuable info. It is so hard to determine head size sometimes. Makes a difference to know. Made the mistake of buying a PXG 0211 without ever seeing one in hand and was surprised at how long it was heel to toe.

The 699 looks like it is kind of a long blade. The 699 Pro seems similar in size to a TM 790 or the new 770? Is that a close comparison?

Also, are the 699 Pros close to as forgiving as the standard 699? Thanks!

@DMeeks17 - For reference, the 699's are clearly larger than JPX919 Hot Metal Pros ?

I was kind of surprised at this, and to be honest it turned me off...until I hit one. I demo'd the 699 w/ their Project X graphite offering and was hitting towering shots. Ball gets up in a hurry, with ease and that clubhead is definitely more forgiving than the smaller HMP I play today. I can't say that I saw a distance increase, but I didn't notice it was flying shorter either. I would say the 699's are relatively the same size as the regular Hot Metals for reference. If you are OK with that then by all means give them a try. They are a good looking club, but I prefer something slightly smaller (less offset, shorter blade length and slimmer sole).

Hoping to receive some 699 PRO demos here in the next few days and see how those compare.

That's awesome good for sub70.  After watching that video I can concur, the 699 pros would be better for me to fit my eye. Also that hybrid sounded sweet too.

Cobra FLY Z+ 3 wood, orange, aldila tour blue stiff, 14.5*

Sub 70 939x, 4H(21*), Proforce V2 85 stiff
Sub 70 699 Pros, 5-AW, Modus 120 stiff

I've been looking at Sub 70 for about 6 months. Called Jason last Friday to inquire about why there was only 6-W and not 5-W in the 639CB on the website. He let me know that 3-5 heads were on the way. We talked for 30 minutes or so and he's a wealth of knowledge on shaft specs in relation to ball flight and workability.

He just texted me and let me know that 5 iron heads were in and I had another question about shaft length and he called me right away. I have to say that the service received from Jason is second to none. I wanted a different grip (CP2) than was offered and he told me it would be no problem. Made the order and he let me know my clubs would ship next week.

Can't wait for my clubs to get here and if you're reading this Jason, thank you so much. Can't recommend Sub 70 enough.

Jason is just genuinely fun to talk to about golf equipment...

He posted on Twitter about forcing his kids to bag tees for the business... just seems like a fun guy running a golf equipment company.

It helps that everything I’ve bought from them performs.

That’s the setup I like. 699 Pro 5-6, 639 CB 7-PW. Seems like the right blend for my game. I like the sole and low bounce of the CBs.

Though I also like the look of the 639 MB or MB Plus and it is gaining a Srixon-like rep as an easy to hit muscleback. I can see why the CB/MB combo has sold so well for them.

When did you order? I know it says 8-10 days but was wondering how long they took to get to you.

They took a month to get to me. I ordered a shaft that had to be ordered. In that time the 699 heads went out of stock. I would say the 8-10 sounds about right if everything is in stock.

I've ordered from them twice this year, and both times the turn around was decent.. even with them being on lockdown.

Overall availability is weird, but it sounds like they are stocked up again.

How'd you like the hybrids? I think they are coming out with a "pro" model that isn't adjustable... I'd rather play fixed hosel everything, so I'm excited to try it and their operation allows them to actually hand select heads to my specs.

I really like the hybrids.  I started out ordering 1 and then ended up scrapping my Titleist 816 H1s for Sub70s.  For me a better ball flight and spec'd out how I want them.  On the adjustability of the hybrids, I believe it's only 1* upright or 1* flat.  no adjustment for lofts.  I haven't messed with it, just have mine on standard.

Yea, I have Mavriks as well (the standard version) and these and I just love the "elegant simplicity" of the 699. Of course everyone's different but they're hard to kick out of the bag.

As to customer service, I can only say that my experience mimics that of most of the other posters on this thread. Exactly what I was hoping for:  It's not a matter of good or bad, it's a matter of responsive and efficient. My clubs took a bit longer than I was expecting but I was informed as to the reason and the situation was resolved to my satisfaction. It's valuable to know how a company responds when things don't go exactly as expected, plus the price is hard to beat.

Harry Redknapp on signing good-looking Portuguese winger Dani, he told reporters:

"My missus fancies him. Even I don't know whether to play him or f**k him."

Yeah, my generic problem with adjustable is I never use it, it takes up weight and thus I’m compromising performance for no utility.

ill likely end up in the pro version whenever they release it.

VA_Astra:  Honestly, as far as looks go, I really love the simplicity of the Sub70 heads (and I think the Mavriks are one of the best looking irons I've seen). But of course that's personal.

Feel is really about the same, if anything, a bit softer feel on the Sub70 (and a slightly more muted sound on the shorter irons, 8 and up). Distance is tricky as the build specs for the two sets were slightly different and I have a heavier shaft in the Sub70s (Callaway Project X 55g vs UST Recoil 68g, both A flex). I would probably say the Mavriks are a bit more forgiving but, again, there's not much in it.

As I say, if I only wanted one set then I would be happy with either, which is a funny thing to say as the Callaways were almost twice the price (albeit with one more club). But I wanted two sets and I don't regret either purchase.

Well my 699s arrived today and I just got back from a quick range session. I’m in the same boat as many others, extremely impressed and happy I made the purchase. I can’t find anything to dislike about these. I got the 5-pw and these things definitely got some power. The closest flag was 136 with a slight 5-8 mph breeze into me and the PW was getting there. They launched much higher than I’m used to but I’m putting a lot of that into the fact I got these with project x graphite shafts. They just hung in the air and kept going forward.

Below are some comparison pics that may help.

5. PW of Sub70

7. Goodie box!

more than happy to answer any questions if I can!  Definitely a brand I’ll be hoping to see more lefty options of!

My 639CB/MB combo set is (hopefully) coming in next week. A couple of the heads went OOS filling orders ahead of mine due to some holdups at customs. Bummed as I was hoping to get them out this week but anxiously awaiting. I'm moving off of an ancient set of Ping G5s that are way too offset and chunky for my liking.

I'll post pictures when they come in. 3-8 in CB and 9-PW MB with loft adjustments on pretty much all of them to try and get my gaps where I want them. It was great working with the whole team to get everything exactly how I want it.

I wish I could have looked at these before getting fitted to my i500's. Now, I love my i500s, but I would have loved a chance at these first.

Mid quarantine I did order a 48* from sub 70 and a 56* from Haywood. I bent the 56 to a 54 before I ever even hit it. I did order both raw. I'm loving both clubs differently. The 70 is a great 110 club, bump and run, and over all utility club. The Haywood has been great in the sand and good for open face shots around the green. They've also both rusted out pretty sweet. The clubs are in my car and I'm not going out to snap a pic, but I took this yesterday playing a par 3 course and you can see the good patina on both.
