The Open Championship at Royal Portrush GC/Dunluce Links - Shane Lowry is the 2019 Champion Golfer

My only problem with the final round of this Open was that it was not really exciting. After the final pair had played the 7th, it was clear that only a meltdown by Lowry could make this interesting. And nobody wanted Lowry to melt down, not even Fleetwood or anybody else who was in contention.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

Brooks not shy about addressing Holmes slow play. Neither were Sky Sports here in the UK - the commentators frequently going on about it.

“There are a lot of slow guys out here, that’s not the first time I’ve done it, especially when you’ve got a walking official with you,” Koepka said. “I’m ready to go most of the time. That’s what I don’t understand when it’s your turn to hit, your glove is not on, then you start thinking about it, that’s where the problem lies.

“It’s not that he takes that long. He doesn’t do anything until his turn. That’s the frustrating part. But he’s not the only one that does it out here.”

Of course Feherty is now an American which I don't think would be in Shane's mind at this time.

It’s because he didn’t yell fore. Joking but he actually didn’t

I'd have taken that as well. At least it would have been a hellish marathon for all involved. Either way, kudos to Shane. He beat the pants off everyone during the first three rounds and was only bested today by Finau's even par round.

There's a name for the behavior BK described... "inconsiderate"

He was still waiting for Holmes to finish going over his card.

Sure maybe the drama wasn't there - but that was a lot of fun to watch and an enjoyable procession the last 3 after he locked it up on 15 :-)

The middle front stretch of birdies totally insulated Shane from any back-nine nasties and that was job done!

Royal Portrush will definitely see The Open Championship again.

As an addendum, not-nice me couldn't be happier to hear of JB's 87. Somewhere Alex Noren is having a chuckle.

Bad karma wishing that score on anyone.

I wouldn't root for someone to do horribly, but after the fact I might dip my toe in the schadenfreude pool ;-)

Heck Zinger was already taking potshots at JB before he'd even teed off.

TBF I didn't realise he did that terribly until after I'd finished watching. It's fair typical to stop showing players as they fall by the wayside, so had assumed he was on his way to a 79/80.

Huh? The weather made the winner look more like a champion. Kudos to Shane.

You must be a real American homer. I happen to celebrate golfers from around the globe - especially Scotland and Ireland.

Just like a lot of multi millionaires they tend to have housing in more than one country to be honest I'll be surprised if

Shane makes a move to this side of the pond permanently and thats coming from an Irish man living here in the states.

It’s probably the best course*on the Major roster - I hope that they can get back there every 10 years at least.

I think that is one of the best courses I have seen - easily up with any other on the Open rota, and it should be featured at least once a decade. Both sides of the border produce some great talents, and I thought that the crowds were fantastic.

They had great attendance , I believe 70% of ticket sales where snapped up by people living in the Rep of Ireland

but anyhow it was a great success and will be back sooner rather than later , there are some tremendous golf courses in Ireland

with Trumps Doonbeg right up there with any course in Europe .
