Aside from the visible wear pattern on the raw wedges, there is definitely a difference in the feel (for me at least). Impact just feels much better with raw.

If I was to venture a guess WHY? LW, they are the heaviest heads of wedges, and able to mask the weight without dramatically affecting SW and overall weight.

Isnt the black just a coating that will wear off and feel the same as a raw? I thought you could remove the black and have a raw wedge.

Yes and no. The black goes through a QPQ process for its finish that effectively adds a thinner layer of protection vs plating. It does have enough effect on feel and even though the black can be removed an underlying grey results that looks raw but is not. Lots of sanding or grinding would still need to be done.

You can go ahead and place your order through your green-grass or big box for raw. I placed my order for raw wedges last week, and it was accepted and acknowledged. They said I would receive them shortly before the official release.

Any idea where to find the no upcharge wedge shaft options? Can't find it on Titleist.com (unless I overlooked it?)

I challenge everyone on here who says that Raw wedges have much better feel to take a lie detector test. I had a set of Raw SM6 wedges that I took to the golf course and had 5 different guys tell me what they could feel. Not a single one of them said that feel was better or worse than a normal off the shelf Vokey wedges. The only thing I got as feedback was that the shininess of the chrome was gone. So to be honest, I'm not buying the whole raw wedge thing and honestly, it wears the wedges down faster so that you have buy more quicker. I for one, don't need to pretend it improves performance for me. I know it sounds like I'm being condescending but I think Raw wedges are just like Tour Issue, Super Rare Drivers. They're a myth that they actually improve performance.

I don’t think there’s a performance benefit. There really isn’t a glare issue anymore since not too many wedges are chrome. I want them only because they look cool to me.

I am one that has used raw for the past few years, and I like them. They do not glare as much, and they feel better to me. My only rhetorical question is this. If Titleist is not trying to push and market raw wedges to the public in the past (Prior years), and actually stopped making them for retail a few years ago, then why do 99% of PGA and KFT pros elect to use the raw version? This is their livelihood. They can play any finish they want, but choose raw.

I think there are a multitude of reasons but I read a while back that the grinds are more easily modified for one. And they feel better IMHO. I’m still going tour chrome however as they will look nicer longer.

The majority of professionals play raw wedges for a couple reasons but most notably because of the lack of glare. If a tour pro wants Jet Black or Chrome wedges, they are usually made to spec at Titleist or the heads are ordered into the Tour Truck for assembly. Raw heads are dominant and preferred by the Tour fitters, IE. Aaron Dill, because of the easy of modification for grinds and adjusting head weight. As an example the K grind... most tour pros that play the K in a lofted wedge has additional relief on the trailing edge and heal. When this grind is applied before assembly it still looks brand new and will rust uniformly.
