Sergio being Sergio

I am trying to understand the logic behind some of the post in this thread. What it seems like some are saying is that if someone displays abhorrent conduct long enough they should no longer be publicly chastised for it?

When I grew really tired of reading science fiction novels, I just stopped reading them... it seemed so much easier than asking everyone to stop writing them.

And yes... the tour really needs to do something about his and other similar conduct already... until they do we're just going to keep seeing this kind of unacceptable antics over and over and over again.

They really need to make club throwing a banable offense - its not an appropriate message to send to kids that throwing hard metal objects at people is acceptable behavior. If my son ever acted like Sergio he won't be playing golf for an extended period of time

In high school golf it’s an immediate DQ (along with language) and depending on the severity of the unsportsmanlike conduct their punishment is determined by a panel for possible additional repercussions.

Tiger Woods bounced a driver into the crowd around the tee at a tournament a few years ago, think it was in Australia? Somehow he managed to escape the level of outrage that this latest incident has created. Maybe Sergio needs to win a few more majors, that seems to get you a pass for poor behaviour on the course.

There was some pretty sharp criticism on wrx about that incident in Australia. For Sergio his poor behavior is so common the criticism has momentum. I really tried liking Sergio after seeing him interviewed on Feherty years ago but his subsequent petulant behavior makes it impossible. He is actually the kind of person that deserves to be picked on.

There was a huge thread about that when it happened. A huge thread . Were you not a member here? Tiger had more haters here than every other player combined

People just say stuff now like they dont expect people to remember. My all time favorite was when the Broncos beat the Panthers in the super bowl, and the narrative in the press was "why are people criticizing cam newton so much, no one ever criticized peyton manning when he lost"....lol.

Threads got started here when tiger SPAT between holes

TW caught flack. While he did not throw the driver, he slammed it and it bounced into the crowd. Still an idiotic move.

But, TW has had pretty much every shot of his whole career televised. Plenty of f bombs but very few times he did something like this.

Sergio?...

Didnt see much attitude from him after putting 5 in the drink last year. He knows whats up when he is there. Though it would be interesting seeing a past champion getting barred from the event.

I understand passion and being emotional but it should NEVER negatively affect other people around you. If you wanna go all Woody Austin and bend your putter over the side of your face thats cool (and kinda funny) but when your actions hinder someone else thats crossed a line. Props to his brother for not taking that driver and chasing him down the fairway with it.

I'm no Sergio fan but the original video make it tough to see him throw a club... The shoe kicking looks like a scene from Happy Gilmore.

I saw this this morning and my first thought is what a fool. Millions in the bank, a career that he has wanted from the age of 2, a lovely family and he behaves like this. I get that golf is about as frustrating a game as I can possible imagine but Sergio you are 39 for crying out loud.

Sergio is getting a bit of a kicking on Morning Drive right now, rightly so. If he does have off course issues that are impacting him on the course surely someone should advise him to step away for period.

the Tour can end this quickly and suspend him for a lengthy period of time, but they refuse to do anything about the rules because they are spineless.

Another way to end this would be to have a grounds person following him around the course and when Sergio the big baby damages something the grounds person hits him with a shovel. :)

Lol seriously, like these antics NEVER occurred until after his marriage.

Conversely he is aging, game is in decline, young studs are bombing it past him and winning, etc etc. Since his master's win and the proverbial monkey was removed from his back, he has become less and less relevant, minus these outbursts of course.

Yes, but look at how marriage has "impacted" Jordan's game.
