When regarding the caddie, and growing up on a reservation. There is an old native story about a boy who meets a rattle snake on top of a mountain and the snake asks him to take him down to the valley so that he can be warm. The boy at first says no, because well its a rattle snake. The snake convinces him that he will not bite him but will be grateful for his kindness. So the boy agrees, and carries him down the mountain. Right after putting him on the ground the snake bites him. As he lay there dying he asks the snake why? The snake says, I am a rattler snake, it is what I do. And you knew what I was when you picked me up.

100%! I have tried to be a Sergio fan, he seemed pretty cool when I was 14 and he was first on the scene and his Ryder Cup performances mean for those 3 days he an absolute star but those few days aside, he is a man child. I think I would rather spend time in the company of Bubba.

Absolutely.

 

I’ve had that story told to me by elders most of my life. “ do not blame the serpent for being himself “.

 

And I’ve used it to describe some crazies on my wife’s side a couple times. As in “ you can’t fix crazy. Only avoid it , or kill it. No other way “. Same as the snake.

This. At some point there's an accumulation of incidents that represents a pattern. He's never been adequately punished for any of his behavior so why would he ever change?

Who has been adequately punished? As he is hardly the only offender.

 

Not condoning his actions one bit, but etiquette and general player behaviour has deteriorated rapidly in the last 15-20 years. Shame, golf used to be better than other sports in that respect.

Good point. I guess I contrast his behavior and lack of consequences with the tour's obsession with suspending guys for recreational drugs.

I don't see any issues with a player showing a little emotion when there was certainly no chance of it effecting/endangering/hurting anyone else. Kind of like seeing some emotion outside of what a robot would show.

Especially if it’s your brother. I mean I’m thinking about it now. And I just am not sure I could wait until after the round. Lol. Probably would have bulldogged him from behind right there. Odd thing is that my brothers know this and I doubt would ever throw a club at me. Nor me at them.
