Slant neck with the short, single sight line is nice. Hopefully they release a mini.

Obviously in the putter world it is much easier to be "inspired by" than outright copy another design. You see it all of the time. So, lets be honest here.....

They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, then piles of putter makers should be flattered. The number 7, spider and not to mention all of the Anser shapes out there have been copied. It takes true market penetration for the most part to get a company to copy something you have to make it worth their while unless it is something really unique.

For instance white putters, LaMont was putting white finishes on putters (and obviously does not have the market penetration of TM, Cally, Titleist, Ping) and yet TM still started using white on their putters after he started it.

First off I would like to say that I agree with some of the comments stated above. This does look very much like the spider and also agree with the high toe wedge comment as well. I have gone back and forth between Scotty and odyssey for years because I felt they were the best two products out there for Putters personally for me. I recently put a spider X in my collection this season because I liked the setup and overall confidence the putter gave me that address... and as a consumer I am happy that companies go back and forth with refining design to produce the best product because we as consumers benefit most from it! Any idea if these are going to be put in the retail Market? I received an email from callaway golf to become a possible tester for these new putters so I'm assuming(hoping) they make it to retail

The stroke labs were released like February of this year? So I’m guessing these will be released same time?

I know this is just how it works, but shame they didn't offer the other alignment line options like the tour versions. I would buy one with just the short, skinnier sight line. But don't think I could handle the thick, front to back sight line on the retail version.

Insert on the black line is a little firmer and louder to be much closer to the sound and feel of the white hot insert. Toulon definitely improved on his original spider design. These are much higher in MOI which is never a bad thing.

I rolled mine yesterday for the first time and it was so easy to line up. I think the best part of this design, is how square it sits when you set it on the ground. I know in the past the big mallet putters would open or shut as soon as you soled them. Also I have had every Odyssey iteration made in LH and this new insert is the closest to the original white hot I have rolled. The weight feels amazing at 365 grams, with the stroke lab shaft. Excited to put this in play.

Pre-ordered standard Ten at 34” - Only disappointment is the lack of smaller grips like the Iomic Sticky or SuperStroke 1.0 since both of those options would work given the grip weight. Excited.

If i grab one I might just add some black paintfill to the line. It would probably look even better

So I thought about that too, and this may be nitpicking but for $300 I'd like to not have to do that. If you look closely at the pics, the putter with the alignment line has like blocks on the front of the putter to where its indented in for the line. If you look at the naked head, those blocks arent there. I havent seen this in person yet so I'm unsure if that is really as big of a deal as I'm making it but I'd like it to be as clean as possible. Hence the hope they will release the "nude" version.

If anyone grabs one and blacks out that line though, please post some pictures. I'd like to see it.

A quick google search shows Taylormade owning aprox 25 patents on the spider. Sean Toulon might of oversaw or even designed it but TM owns the rights. That's a $250 million cash cow for TM. They like court too, this will be interesting. This version is better looking to my eye, but I can't play mallets so don't really care. I can't see TM letting this stand. Callaway may be interested in testing designer vs. Patent owner.

Maybe Odyssey should sue Scotty Cameron because they copied the #7 or Callaway sue Tm about the truvis ball or high toe wedge. Or Maybe ping should sue everyone for the anser putter. Oh wait there is no legal recourse for putting your own spin on designs or when patents run out. I love the non informed legal advice around here.

TM will stand and watch it as will you. In fact i think the #ten is now the number 1 played Odyssey on tour. Golf companies do this non stop to each other and there are rarely lawsuits.

Can anyone comment on the size of the Ten vs say the original spider, Spider Tour and Spider X? TM has made the Spider variations progressively smaller over the years and the OG Spiders were too big for my eye. This one looks to have a footprint in line with the older Spiders, Daddy Long Legs, etc. I'm hoping it's not huge, but, it looks pretty darn big...

As for who first designed the Spider shape, it's my understanding that Kia Mia designed the Spider. Of course, Toulon, as a very influential person at TM would have worked on the Spider. But, I believe the true architect of it was Kia Mia. I do not know for a fact, but, the comments by Callaway akin to "improving upon the design of the spider" don't seem to imply that it's his design.

Lastly, as for a lawsuit, I highly doubt you will see one. I am attorney but am NOT an intellectual property attorney. That said, my understand of IP infringement cases is that it's extremely hard to sue over the SHAPE of something....How many companies have copied the Anser SHAPE. 100s? 1000s? You don't see a lot of lawsuits related to the same. Also, copies of the #7 shape? 100s..... same deal. Copying the shape of an iron/driver? Good luck with that!

I believe the PXG vs TM lawsuits have more to do with the materials (foams, etc). You will notice PXG certainly wasn't saying "you stole the shape of our iron." Same with the Titleist ball suit....no one argued that "you stole the round shape of our ball...."

Again, I'm far from an expert on IP law and patent infringement, specifically. But, I don't think you'll see anything. Moreover, if you do, my guess it's more to make a statement vs confidence that the suit would actually prevail.

All that aside, I'm excited to try this thing...especially if it isn't huge. Hope they release one without the line, too.
