Anyone else sick of multi material constructed drivers?

So this has been bad year for driver issues for me. Cracked 2 drivers on the crown and spent the whole season played mostly with a fairway wood off the tee. I have to say that customer service with Callaway and TM has been awesome and they replaced my driver every single time but the drawback was waiting for a replacement. I’m just kind of sick of carbon fibre multi material drivers welded together that seem cheaply put together at such high costs. Thoughts?

As a concept, no. I think it is a solid design idea to move weight lower in the head. I would be sick of quality control issues like that though, but honestly I have had more titanium crown drivers blow up than carbon crown ones.

I've had no problems with the crown. I can't stand the carbon on the sole though. A wooden or plastic object is hitting it at 115 MPH, it's obviously going to scratch/splinter/crack. Then the original M5 model with the overlapping rails that were carbon fiber which was fixed quickly with an updated model but they still have some of the big rails at my local PGA Superstore.

I've had no problem with exchanges and PGA Superstore has both times just exchanged the same head off the rack and dealt with the company directly but it's still a frustrating issue on a $550 purchase to have to deal with at all.

Evidently I don't swing hard enough or keep clubs long enough. I have never had any issues with carbon fiber cracking on a driver. The last driver I had an issue with was the Cobra SS 290 hyper steel driver. Bought one brand new years ago and I cracked the face on it after about a month. Got the replacement brand new serial number wrapped in plastic. Decided just to sell it without using it and after about two weeks the guy emails me that the face cracked. So I am guessing it was not my super human strength.

I found it quite relevant considering he's owned a bike shop for 20 years and sells it. Says it's fatigues and becomes more brittle as it ages, life cycle is (2-3 years) and a 1/3 of high end alloys while the moly steel lasts forever. My driver purchase after hearing that was an all Ti constructed one.

When you try to put a square peg in a round hole, problems will arise.

But he is also not try to get the best performance possible by using that bike. When you ask companies to push the limits on manufacturing/design things can and will break. It's the same reason why high performance cars have more issues than your standard sedan. As long as you want the best driver possible, club failure may happen.

I hear that, but in the end an all Ti driver weighs the same as a CF multi-materialed one. You might have more launch or setting options on the latter, which might lead to better performance over a wide array of users. But If you know what you're looking for in a driver, this is not even a discernible advantage.

I have an M4 fairway wood, and I must say I do hate the feel and the sound of it. However, the damn thing does perform, so it's staying in the bag.

Just put an i20 in the bag. Loving the performance of it. I was constantly messing with settings on my adjustable clubs. Decided enough was enough and got rid of them all for fixed hosled clubs. Hoping to play this setup for a long time.
