2019 Presidents Cup - US wins, 16-14; G'day, mate, & Merry Christmas

The "nonsense" was he was antagonized by the crowd. I don't fault him for that.

But the pairing of the Reed/Simpson simply isn't working. But then again, who does he play with? Does anyone want to play with Reed at this point?

Agreed. And it's not like he's been playing particularly well either. The crowd this week or the Hero last week don't need to figure into it at all--he deserves a benching based solely on his play over the last two days.

Sending him out there again with Webb makes no sense. If you absolutely must send him out again, at least do so while making an attempt to shake up a pairing that isn't working. Granted, I haven't watched every minute of it, but from what I've seen it seems like PR's been weighing Webb down--seen Webb hit a lot more quality shots than PR in the coverage I've caught.

Sorry if this has been discussed already but in yesterday’s foursomes, is the one ball rule in effect? I’d imagine it is. Was wondering if JT played Tigers ball or vice versa. Also wonder if that factors into the captains thinking regarding pairing.

There are players who are better individual players than Team players in my observation. Some people aren’t giving the international team any chance in the beginning but a lot of those players on the international team are on the rise and that almost often means more determination to prove themselves. Still a lot of golf left and the US squad should rise to the occasion since there is just too much talent on the team. Fun to watch so far, that is for sure.

I said, "if he hits the initial tee shot for his partnered team." In his opening match, he hit after Thomas, of which is a different mind set. Regardless, after having watched Tiger play this week, would agree that if he had hit first, it is likely that he would have center cut the fairway. I admit that I was skeptical of Tiger as a partner in a team setting. Am quite happy that he is playing so well, this time around. Woodland, on the other hand, was always a question mark for me; as was DeChambeau, because he hasn't had much time to adjust to his new weight/muscle.

Yes & it does factor. Thomas plays w/Tiger, all the time. They may have practiced that way previously. Tiger seems to be overly sensitive to ball type, as are many. So, keeping Tiger w/ his usual golf ball is a good decision.Did you mean Tigers' bullsh... or BS as in Bridgestone XS? Am curious, only to learn whether or not you are an XS fan. Thanks & (sorry, a little off topic).

By rule, players must play at least once today. So he has to send Reed, Woodputter, and DeChambles out there at some point. i think he predetermined pairings unless someone got hot, and the only hot player is Tiger himself and maybe JT. Would like to see Finau/Kuchar win in Rd 3. Those guys don't win enough on Tour either. Time for them to step up.

can't believe how much Ernie has aged. Looks like 55-60. Voice is as strong as ever.

I was wondering the same thing. I really found it interesting that playing "one ball" rules with DJ at the Ryder Cup led Rickie Fowler to changing to the TP5 from the ProV1. Even he has commented on the fact that his irons are about a half-club longer with the TP5 over the ProV1. I can't imagine how strange that must feel to someone who is so used to getting certain results from a strike.

It makes me wonder about the short game too. There can be some pretty extreme variability between the different premium golf balls from a spin and feel standpoint, and with the conditions being so challenging, I can't imagine that's helping.

Most will probably write it off, but the differences between different ball models are verifiable and increase as club speed does. I wonder if the pairings practice with the ball they're using beforehand? For guys that have played a ProV1 since they were in Junior High, I can't imagine switching to a TP5x or Bridgestone XS in these conditions on this course!

Sometimes it looks like an advantage to have two guys who have no delusions of being able to carry the team - so they don't try to. As a result, they analyze and tackle the course as teammates, rather than each figuring that they should be fine if they just "go out there and play their game." I think these young unheralded pairings are able to stay within themselves if they're able to keep their confidence dry in the first few holes.

ill echo the Kisner/Na should have been here but throw in i think it would have been cool to see someone like Wolff in there, watching how pumped up he got down the stretch at the 3M id have to imagine he would show a lot of fire. I like schauffele a lot but watching him, kuch, finau and webb play is like watching paint dry.

LOL, until you typed that because of the crowd noise I had no idea what they were even yelling, but the way there giggling about it after I think it was fairly spontaneous.

Now, it seemed a little dopey to me, but hey, they had just secured their second win and they have more than half of the USA's points right now - which is a little scary.

There out in force today too. Someone just yelled “ it it N tha Bunkah “ as his approach was hit. No part of me can root for a mob. Pack mentality is the opposite of intelligent behavior. It’s a defense mechanism used to survive by attrition , shielding oneself out of fear and hope to not be singled out.
