I remember when Bobby "the brain" Heenan introduced Lex Luger. He proudly proclaimed himself to be the Narcissist. He ended up body slamming Yokozuna.

Did it help that he was a narcissist. I say yes. But I really had to think about it

So, why do you think he doesn't have empathy, is a cheapskate, and bad tipper? He has donated 12 million of tournament earnings to the TGR Foundation and a million to the Earl Woods Foundation. I would bet there is a lot more donated than that as well, but just not in articles. His charity focuses a lot on education for kids. I don't think Tiger is a narcissist but for the sake of playing devils advocate in an odd but somewhat intriguing thread I will pose a thought. Both of the charities you mention have to do with his namesake and legacy. Also who knows how charities and donations work with the taxman in that income bracket.

It's not just Tiger. There are plenty of other professional athletes and high profile individuals, not just limited to golfers, that have charitable foundations set up that are in their name and are to benefit their legacies that do benefit many people.

Not discounting the fact that high profile individuals in all aspects of life do this only that large charitable donations may have an underlying economic benefit. Also these organizations positively affect public opinion. Essentially, the conclusion is that I'm sure at least one person who is a narcissist has set up a successful charity.

How one treats strangers is meaningful.

 

Assuming that the difference between a 10% tip and a 20% tip makes negligible difference to your finances, there you are, after a nice dinner, you waitress has done an excellent job. You know full well that a $20 tip will most likely make a big difference to them compared to a $10 tip. A good tip will make them happy and help them out.

 

Some people are happy to give the extra 10 or more to *help the person and say, "job well done"

Others are not.

 

Not passing judgement but it's interesting.

 

That said, and back to how we treat strangers, I know that money impacts behavior on a certain level and a persons influences growing up can impact how they are with money.

The same bad tipper might be nice to strangers if money is not a factor but I think, just based on how someone tips, we can gain an understanding of how empathetic they are.

 

And as I said, a lack of empathy may be an indication that the person did not receive/does not expect empathy from others so they don't act empathetic themselves.

He has millions of people bombarding and stalking him. None of the highest profile figures (celebrities, pro athletes, politicians, etc.) are going to be outwardly friendly when bombarded by a tons of random strangers. I'd bet you would think differently and act similarly if bombarded constantly by complete random strangers 24/7. Also in regards to poor tipping, he may of had poor service or was served by someone who really disliked him like you.
