2020 Titleist T100-S Iron in hand pics

You will have an issue, the same one as me that most people haven’t noticed ?

If you were about to buy a T100S wedge that one would have been 35.5” in length.

But by some reason Titleist has 35.75” if you buy a SM8 48*, the same length as your 44* T100 Pitch. So to compensate you need to order the SM8 48* -0.25” which will be hard to get up to D3 in swing weight. Also a 52* won’t be good since that one is 35.50, so instead go with a 54, bent 1* weak, that one will be 35.25” and then the 58* at 35.00” ?

That would require relocation up here, unfortunately. Nice that some of you have that option. Unless you belong to one of the few private clubs up here that have grass ranges (a small handful), I can count on one hand (minus the thumb) the number of available grass ranges locally, none of which have the option of fitting. Can be said of the private courses as well. Closest you'll ever get is a demo event.

Going shorter shaft length in each wedge is a preference more than an issue. A lot of players have at least two wedges In their set that are the same length, so only the loft changes. There are players on Tour who prefer their wedges that way — loft is the only difference they want. I don’t even worry about it. My 54 and 58 are rarely used for full swings, it’s all about the right distance to get close to the hole.

If you’re hitting them for full shots and are distance gapping, adjusting the loft a degree either way is a better way to dial in IMO.

Anyone have any significant performance feedback on these irons? I know they've just come and we're all in quarantine, but figure someone out there may have some rounds in them. Moreover, have you found your previous shafts fit the T100s or did you have to play something a little different to get a bit more launch/descent angle? I do think this is going to be a super popular iron. I wish the stock graphite shaft options were a bit more wide ranging. Really want to try these with the Accra i110, but hard to find someone who can demo.

There are no grass fitting centers here, unfortunately. The closest thing we have to a fitting center up here is Modern Golf (just opened). Trackman indoors, off mats. Given the purchase of some launch monitor style unit, you could get numbers from your current clubs. Even manufacturer fitting events are off mats, with the limited selection of stock shafts.

Makes sense to me, this seems like it was the T100 specs they should have released as many (including myself) have stated before. The traditional T100 lofts didnt blend well with the T200 or T300 sets, and the rebranding would have been the perfect time to just change it to more closely match. Leave the CB and MB alone for the people who want that. It's good to see Titleist make these changes but I think they are going through some growing pains. I have been a life long titleist player and the looks of the T200 and T300 are alien to me, but the performance is definitely there. If they can get back to their classic looks with the new performance they have a winning recipe. Their woods and hybrids show this. The new T100-S are not groundbreaking, they just make more sense to a lot of people than the traditional loft. To each their own, but I do think Titleist bungled this release slightly with their timing.

Well, I think you miss the most important point. AP2 was the most played iron on tours for Titleist so first and foremost they had to replace that which has been a huge success on tour with most players adapting to T100. I don’t think tour players care about blending into T200 etc. ??

With that said I’m glad they released the T100s since that is exactly what I was looking for. But in my case I already bought the T100 and the season start has been nothing but phenomenal for me (no quarantine rules here, all golf courses are open) and I love my T100 5-P. Especially the perfect blend with my U500 2-4(which a lot of tour players do care about), so even though T100s was perfect on paper I will continue with T100 this season, and probably make T100s next years project.

It launches very easily, even easier than T-MB. I do miss the slightly narrower sole on T-MB though. But as an overall club still prefer U500. It’s significantly more forgiving than T100 and I think they blend perfect, especially the jump from T100 5-iron to U500 4-iron is perfect both visually and performance wise

Please notice that I have the same iron shaft in 3-4 as in my T100 5-P.

It’s my very personal opinion, but I think the standard shaft offering from Titleist is pretty strange regarding U500. I think it’s a bad idea to go with a graphite shaft in a 4-iron. I think AMT White should have been the standard in 3-4 (I wish there was a 5!) and PX Smoke only standard in the 2-iron (and maybe even defined as a Driving Iron).

  • 2 weeks later...

Got a 4-PW set on its way. AMT White R300 surprisingly was the best match. Just fit my rhythm I guess. Great looking clubs with a narrow topline and little offset.

Pondering so much about wedges and 3 iron now. Considering SM8 48, 52, 56 or 50, 54, 58. Going to be strange not having a 46 PW.

On the other side I am considering a U500 3 iron between the 4 iron and my strong 5 wood (17).

Seems some have gotten these already, and with the lockdown and all I was kind of wondering just eyeball test how the T100-S size up with a club like JPX 900/19 forged? If anybody was familiar or could speak on the size comparison, that would be awesome!
