I'd take a step further. The G's are like that GF who is always cool and predictable no matter what you are like. When you're not as much as you should into the relationship, she treats you just like when when you were first dating. On your worst days, she's there to pick you up, on your best days, she makes you feel even better. Blades are like that very sexy hot girlfriend who can turn icy cold if you aren't meeting her needs. Or just decides to be a b1tch one day because, well she can. But when things are good, they are so good that you swear you never want to date another woman again.

my first though when reading all of these comments was who is gal gadot.

trust me i am not rushing out to drop that kind of money on a full set of blueprints or blades. i have way to much practice and work to do to get to that point. i also know it is not the club when it all goes wrong. knowing where i started golf from (18 and my first two swings i threw the club further then the ball) to hitting a blade consistently with a nice draw yesterday really was just awesome for me.

maybe i'll buy a 1 iron 

sadly i am not making any tour ever. for me its just the challenge.

i will say, i am really enjoying these iron comparisons to girlfriends, wives, etc. thanks for all the comments and feedback

I have played MB's, and I find that a well struck shot with a CB feels every bit as good as one with an MB.

Welcome to the club! It is that addicting feeling of a purely struck shot with a forged blade, the feedback, the sweet, solid, squish of the ball that has kept me at it for 50 years. Blades are fun improvement clubs. They make the game more fun (and I play and score better with blades, but that's not the main reason I play them).

I hit 4, 7, PW Blueprint for the first time last week. As a long-time Mizuno guy I expected to be all "meh" but far from it! I loved those things. They look absolutely perfect at address and feel wonderful and just produce such strong, effortless, solid strikes/ball-flight. I even think they look cool. I still like a shiny conventional muscle-back like an MP-18, or Titleist 620mb, or my old MP-33s but the Ping look has a mid-century industrial cool to it that I find nearly as compelling. So simple, clean and "everything you need and not one single thing you don't" kind of look.

If they weren't 1600 for a set, I'd have a set! I may yet down the road.

The only people that are wrong about blades are those that want badly to caress them but fear the repercussions so much they must tell others don't mess with them without a prenup. I have a few sets including 620MB in the bag and yep, they look mighty good to my eye but nobody has said anything about them that I've played with. Whoa is me. They feel much better than they look, by the way. Like a good looking woman feels better to the touch than ogling and knowing from afar you can't have her without paying through the nose for the experience. Go ahead, rub up against them, they aren't that hard, plus nothing good comes cheap or easy.

Na... I played 716CB's from when they were introduced till 11/1 when I purchased 620's. All while my 2001 MacGregor butter knives rest quietly in the garage. Titleist 718CBs are nice clubs.

Just go out and buy a set but first look up the value for them used so you will have an idea what your loss will be when you sell them.

Echoing the sentiment of others here, definitely don't be afraid to pick up a set and find out yourself! There's some great deals to be had since so many people find themselves in the same situation. I've dabbled with a set of MP5's and a set of Srixon 945's. Can't say they inspired tons of confidence, but I'm glad I got the experimenting out of my system. Shop smart and you can break even, maybe even profit!

At a 16, you may regret buying blades. Perhaps a game improvement but high end forged ie Epon, Mizuno, etc. Would have the feel you like but not sacrifice playability.

I can relate to the OP.  Last weekend in a tournament, I hit a magnificent 620 MB seven iron dead straight 155yds to pin high.  At impact there was this moment, I think I felt an unfamiliar twinge ? in my pants. I liked it...

Next hole hit a beautiful 6i uphill into a cool breeze 165yds, landing just under the pin.  Dang, another twinge and applause from my competitors for that shot.  WOW, a double whammy. Who would have thunk MB's and twinges in your pants and applause go together and end in a good score too? ?  Can't wait to see what today's round brings. I am okay with more twinge's then birdies.
