That’s my dilemma too...currently playing a combo set of P770 (4/5/6) and P750 (6/7/8/9/PW) - I swap the 6 iron out depending on how I’m swinging

i know I ‘should’ get the new P770’s but I really like the look of the P7MC - I don’t want to combo this time though!!

based on what the TXG guys said, it sounds like the 770's more closely resemble the 760's than the MC's would. Is that right?

It depends on which iron specs you want to match. But The easiest would be to just leave it. It is only .5 degrees stronger than the MC 4 iron.

 

The P770 is 22.5 degree and the P.7MC is 23. Or bend it .5 degree weak. But, I would just leave it as is.

Definitely going to combo 770/mc after seeing TXG and EAL. Going to go Modus 120 if it's still a no-upcharge option. Question on shaft flex...hit the stiff and it was really, really smooth...is the X just as smooth? 9i is 150 club...never played an X in an iron before...most of the times I just don't like the feel when I've tried.

I am leary of combo of MC with 770...just love the look of the MC through the bag but wondering if I should at least get the 4 iron as 770...i am fixated on all the irons looking the same...i know i know that is stupid...i love options....i hate options....

5i - P7-MC - 2 degree weak

6i - P7-MC - 2 degree weak

7i - P7-MC - 2 degree weak

8i - P7-MC - 2 degree weak

9i - P7-MC - 1.5 degree weak

Pw - P7-MC - 2 degree weak

Sw - MG2 TW

Lw - MG2 TW

I play off of a weak Pw (49 degrees) and like 4 degree gaps in my irons, but want my 4 iron to be juiced a bit (it helps me cover the gap between the 4 iron and Hybrid)

I'm right there with you. I'm a pretty strong guy and am playing 919F with Modus 120x. I can handle them OK, but would probably prefer 120S hard stepped once or twice.

I'd rather have a shaft load a bit easier, especially near the end of the round.

I am currently gaining the original P790's, but want to upgrade.

 

Is the 770 the new P790?

They won't change the P790 for another year, if at all. The P770 is a smaller version with more traditional lofts.

I felt like the modus 120X was probably one of the softest X flex iron shafts I’ve ever used owned. I’d say if you are swinging a Tensei Pro Orange 60TX in your Driver you would have absolutely no problem with the Modus 120X. If you haven’t hit the 120, definitely try it out. It’s one of the best feeling shafts out there, but you either love it or hate it. It’s a different sensation for sure.

I hit the 120S only. Felt good but loose. I’ve been reading up on reviews and opinions are all over the place lol. Driver swing speed is 110ish give or take a couple of mph on any given day. I guess I can give the X a go. What two letter (S and X) can do to a golfer’s fragile mind lol.

I play x in my irons and didn’t get along with the 120x. Liked the 120s though. Strange shaft.

Kinda crazy they couldn't answer your question on shafts. With Modus or $Tapers the Taylormades might be 700 more than the Srixons or 400 more than the Mizunos.

The MCs are most like the P750. Matt Wolff uses them for his whole set and Morikawa in his long irons.

Did you get any numbers when you hit the 120S? If you weren’t overspinning them, then they may be fine. Guys that have a later release tend to send them sky high with a lot of spin. Maybe hardstep the stiff or soft step the X, depending on what weight you want. I had them in 120x ssx1 and liked them plenty. The frequency between and R and S, because the butt is so soft. They definitely play way firmer than that though.
