New Taylormade TP5/TP5X on the way?

Just dont mess with the feel of the TP5. Best ball on the market, imo. It combines feel, in all areas, with performance. Please don't screw this up.

I was wondering the same thing this am.  I just switched back to this years TP5X and can’t wait to try the new one from what I’m hearing.

I’ll take a WAG and say late January, early February. Get some word of mouth, social media, internet chatter going from warm weather golfers and get a running start when the northern golfers can get on the course again.

You are absolutely correct on the tour pro ball usage. DJ is using the TP5x, but according to a rep at The Kingdom, most are using the TP5.

DJ switched to the TP5 last year. TP5X is barely played on tour

TP5 / X white were solid. Great ball. Wasn't a huge fane of the alignment aid but, I also don't use it that much so, whatever.

TP5X Yellow was not good. Very not good. Like, I emailed TM with pictures of 3 different balls that the cover were RIPPED (not scuffed) ripped off. I put a hole in the cover and saw the next layer of the ball. I don't know if TP5 followed suit.

Only things I could see maybe being fixed is finding a happy medium between the two balls. Both are equally awesome but I was always switching back and forth between the two with trade offs between distance, feel, and spin. I want the ball that would be directly in the middle of the two. I don't need help with distance, or spin, and like that softer ball but, wouldn't mind getting another 5 - 15 on the drive.

Curiosity... did TM respond to your communication?

And? What was the response? Thanks. Did they acknowledge an issue?

They apologized profusely. They mentioned it being an anomaly and offered to replace the dozen. I thanked them and kindly refused. TMs customer service is good. The yellow ball is good but, that issue needs correction.

That seems odd about the tour players. Any speculation as to why except for a softer feel ???

I never considered tour players picking the extra spinning premium ball for additional spin. Always thought they they were the spin masters and if anything typically didn't need/want the extra spinning ball. There are alway exceptions like Tiger.

I really hope TM doesn't "back off" on the TP5x and make it closer to the TP5 in terms of spin. For my game/swing and home course conditions, the current TP5x is the best ball I've ever played

In my opinion it’s easier to take off spin than add more.

I'm really waiting to see their improved version of the yellow TP5/TP5x.  A lot of complaints about the yellow covers and they are stating that the next version will be MUCH improved.  I'm not really a yellow ball player but sometimes it would be nice to have and play some especially with fall golf.

The bomb and gouge style of play on Tour probably needs more spin coming from the rough. Spin equals control and most Tour players can justify giving up 5 yards of distance for more spin on approach shots.

What did Tiger say? "Spin is everything". TP5 / X is a great platform but yeah, need that happy middle ground between the X and regular TP5 with feel, spin, and flight.

I'm excited for the new balls, but dang I'm so torn. I play the TP5X right now, and with our new (just over a year old) Champion Bermuda greens, sometimes it's tough to get the ball to stop when the greens firm up in the summer. I really love the way the ball reacts off the club though, especially in the wind. I'm expecting the TP5, because of it spinning more, not to be as good of a ball in the wind.

I randomly played a ProV1X for the first time in quite a few years and that's the reason I may eye the TP5. The added spin was clearly evident and allowed me to trust my yardages a bit more than having to play for the 2-3 yard hop the TP5X would take on the firm greens.

Obviously a ball fitting would be best...but anyone have any reason that the TP5 wouldn't be a good change?

Have you tried the Tour B X? All the performance of TP5X but with more spin off the irons, wedges, and around the green.
