I currently play KBS graphite hybrid proto 85 S in my callaway x forged 21 UTs. I just ordered some srixon ZX utilities and plan on pulling the shafts and putting in some Ventus blue in the utilities. Trying to figure out what flex would be best... I have a Ventus blue 6x in my driver and 3 wood and both perform great. Trying to figure out if I should go with 7s,8s, or 8x?

 

Driver swing speed right around 100 MPH. Carry in the 240-250 range. I play kbs tour 120 S in my current irons but just made the switch to MMT 105 S in the new irons. Looking for advice on which flex and weight to put into the utilities? I play them both off the tee and in the fairway/ different lies around the course.

So I have the ventus black 10tx in my 425 17 hybrid. And I have the TPW 100tx in my 410 19 hybrid.  The eye ball and feelers in me say that the VB is a quarter or eighth a flex stiffer...  I think maybe the VB would be perfect in the 19 and the tensei in the 17...  VB is a great shaft though.  But so is the tensei.  Tensei was my favorite and the jury is out on the VB, but looks promising...👍😁

Thanks deuce!! Have a black on the way 9tx so we will see. Played sim golf last night and the blue just doesn’t feel right. Prob end up going back to the tensei lol. Expensive experiments!! (Look out for a blue 2i pull on the bay or classified soon if anyone interested)

Very expensive experiments!  I'm glad that the Blue HB has been working for me.  No pulls on the 2-iron.  But I am still in search of a cheap pull of the Ventus Blue 6S for my driver.  🙄

@AWD430 - great question and thanks for asking!

 

Based on what you have described in your post, I would suggest starting with the Ventus HB Blue 8S. I would fear that the 7S may be too light and the 8X may be too stiff. I'd prefer you be able to load the shaft to get the most from its performance while still feeling like the proper weight. By no means is this a fitting, but I hope it puts you at a starting point that you feel confident with!

I'm testing one right now in a U500 2i iron. Had the blue 10x to begin with but wanted to see how much the black would reduce spin to use solely off the tee. I'm a little north of you on SS and I did not tip it. So far with two short range sessions and 1 round , I like the more linear feel and don't think it needs tipping in the iron.

I'm 108-110 driver. Blue 9x in a 3h. Tipped 1/2" and that's plenty for me.

Agree.  I did not tip my 10tx.   Great shaft in a hybrid.  The black in the driver needs tipping.  Hybrid not so much...

I'm playing it in a G425 hybrid and tipped it 1". If anything it gave me a little stronger flight but the feel is still great. I really don't think tipping the Ventus Black shafts makes as much difference as other shafts since the tip section is already ultra stiff anyways.

I'm thinking it should be fine untipped, just going to a legit TX should make a difference over my Tensei 100X.

Just to provide an update and help others. I ended up going with black 10tx in my Srixon utilities (3 @20 and 4 @24). 
 

Straight in with the 3 and tipped .5” in the 4. Playing lengths are 39 3/8 and 38 5/8. 
 

Really happy with how these perform. Don’t feel overly stiff at all. Very glad I didn’t go with blue. I’m around 116 with driver fyi.

I should have my Black 10TX Wednesday, anxious to get it in my 818 and see if it tightens things up.

Another round under my belt with the black 10TX and I'm more and more impressed with it in my U500 2i.  It's a great shaft , hopefully it works out for you! Let us know what you think..

You guys & these "X" shafts ... sheesh, I must be the slow one here.  If I swung the X shaft, it would be like swinging a telephone pole 😉  

I still love the Blue S in the U500 2-iron.  It really is so stable & I can feel where the club head is in the swing, which is a rarity for me with that club.  That's why I continue to look for a shaft for the driver.  It would be a deadly combo in the TSi2 for sure.

This forum definitely skews faster than the normal golfing population. If this works out I want to look at a TSi3 or 4 with the Black 6X.

Finally got the head pulled so tomorrow will be installing the 9tx black to replace the blue 9x. I’m definitely not the fastest but always like stiffer shafts as I have an aggressive transition and put a lot of spin on the ball but working on that !  Hit the blue great actually on Saturday but still “feels” a little loose in the middle to me

First round with the black and it’s perfect feel for me. Much better than the blue and doesn’t feel “stiff” or boardy at all. Ventus line is really amazing

I feel a little foolish for asking this question. But Im a 5 wood player, and love heavy shafts for it. On Fujis website, it says you may sand it down to fit .355 hosels. I can find aftermarket .350 adapters pretty easily, would it be crazy to put a ventus HB in my 5 wood at .350? I love the ventus black 6x in the driver, did not like the blue’s feel. Swing speed about 115. Advice anyone?

What weight are you looking for in the 5 wood? Could shim a black 335 to 350 unless the goal is to get out a little less $$.

Yea i realize that. To get a black 9x .335, its tour only, so likely i would have to purchase new at $350 and only from a few certain retailers that even have em. Much more likely to pick up a HB, even used for half that price. So yea a bit cheap, lol, but is there gonna be a difference in performance really?
