Pw smaller than Texas ????

feel of the mizzy’s vastly superior than the titleist’s I’ve had , but can’t ever get over why they make the the scoring irons clunkers

the 681 as if they bring those to market 😳

In my mind i allways want the newest clubs to look great to me 1st and then if they perform great then great if not then thats a no go even if it looks perfect. I cannot play ugly clubs i just cant. I need to feel great about my clubs look. Its a look great feel great thing. I feel this offering doesnt look as good as the mp20 or jpx 21. I highly doubt they preform any better either... even if they did probably not by much. So thats my thoughts on it.

Yep and its not like you're gonna pick a horrible iron if you prioritize looks. Most irons are great, and look great. I bet the script might be a deal breaker for a decent amount of people actually. I personally dont mind the script, but I do think the 223 looks a lot worse than the MMC from 18 and 20. I liked the look of the MP 18 MMC the most. It looked the most like "this is a blade but we hot swapped tech into it"

I get what you're saying. Golf is a mental game and if you don't like something you're just not going to convince yourself that the club will perform.

The script on the Miz 221 doesn't really bother me too much but I think it would be better if placed some where other than the toe. If Titleist had brought out those AS or JT blades that's been posted this year. I'd probably be picking those up instead of the Mizuno.

There's nothing like a nice classic clean looking blade.

This is true mostly everything is at least decent...its basically just on looks and feel. The 18 and 20 mmc were miles ahead on looks vs these 223. Kinda odd but cant make beautys every year i guess lol 🤷

Too much ado about a logo and script ... seems so shallow. 🙃

Stamp the running bird on the back, no text anywhere, keep making the same club 'till the end of days.

LOL

Kinda like most Titleist blades.

Just has their name on the muscle back and model on the hosel...

Pure clean sexy

But agreed not much you can do with a blade other than using new material

That's what people are getting hung up about. There are few irons that have as much cachet as a Mizuno blade. There was never any need for script. Running bird stamp on the back and model on the hosel. You know its forged from the finest steel in all the land, no need to tell everyone on the hosel. At first I though people getting upset about the "Mizuno Pro" script was dumb, but I started to think "what if GMC put General Motors Company script on the back of their trucks?". Companies aim for brand recognition. Once you have it you can start dropping script. Look no further than Nike, McDonalds, or Starbucks. They don't need to tell you the name of the product anymore. Less is more.

Anyway....hope this means my MP 20's will be collector items. The last "MP" irons ever made 😂

I agree. I still plan to get the 221's maybe combo with 223

but if they had went for a clean design like you said ie Titleist....man those would've looked sick

Kinda like Ford back in the what? 1930s?

But seriously, I like the script on the 22x line of clubs. I just wish I had bought a set of MP20 MMCs last year (waited about a week too long and custom orders were closed) and didn't have to deal with the 223 design -- it seems to be trying to be both a classic Mizuno iron _and_ appeal to the supre-game-improvement crowd that likes all the 'go-fasters' that I would rather do without.

Actually considering a set of sub 70 blended cavity and blades at this point. Or a set of Miura CB-301s, though those would easily break the bank.

It’s all eye of the beholder stuff really. I rate the 223’s way about the 18/20 mmc’s. Cleaner and classier to my eye.

I'm also a fan of the Mizuno pro label on all.

go figure hey

I mean.. haven't they? Aside from the copper plating, which came from old irons anyway. Feels like every reviewer, or even Chris when he talks to reviewers, all but say a blades a blade. He'll openly say the changes are subtle. Thats code for "if you're loaded, go ahead buy the latest and flex" and if you're budget conscious, dont bother

I have a set of MP32 that I've had for over 13 years lol.The 18s and 20s I've tried feel about the same. I'm not convinced blades have changed much after CAD became commonplace.

If I go with the 221s itll be because they look good and I want brand new clubs. But if I dont like the way they look I'm going to try to find MP5's or MP18s because I dont like the look of the MP20s and they might as well be the same club to most people

Strip the paint fill on the Mizuno pro and add a copper fill to the running bird and you have something cooking my guy

This reminded me. I’m not sure they still offer it (I don’t think they do) but you use to be able to choose from several different iron finishes and paint fill colors.

Of all the irons that have been released, I’ve never seen a reaction like this to the cosmetics of a logo or writing. It’s crazy. Ping i59 thread on page 53 I think. I haven’t read a single post there about the placement or the font of the ‘i59’, ‘FORGED’ or ‘Ping’. 😂

That's because we all agree those Ping i59  cost too much and are ugly🤣

All jokes aside I won't buy any iron that has those screw or holes in the club head. It's a mental hangup for me, don't like it so I won't even consider an iron that has them

But to the i59 thread and nothing being said about the font placement. The Forged is to the rear and although the i59 is on the toe area it flows and the face still doesn't look busy.

I'd think the fact that other clubs aren't getting talked about in this manner may something.

Either way. I guess at least from a Marketing stand point they're getting talked about for sure 😁
