Miserable rainy weekend around here, looking forward to the inevitable disappointment when I fire up Peacock and find that the early coverage is behind the paywall.  Thank you NBC, you might actually force me to be productive.

 

Browsing the leaderboard, there are so many players still in contention, at least unless Nelly or Lizette rips off another 63 or 64.  Great bounce back rounds for my dark horse Lauren Stephenson and for Gabi Ruffels yesterday.

 

Really surprised to see Nasa miss the cut.

 

Will we see less Anna Nordqvist coverage today?  Less Wie West?

She seems to have worked pretty hard to get her game back in decent shape (exclude this week).  To represent your country again means a lot to these players. 

 

Based on the article, I wonder if she's even packed it in for Evian and the AIG Women's Open?  I would be surprised if she ever plays in the U.S. again.  Maybe three tournaments in Asia this fall.  I don't recall what a player needs to rank to qualify for these events?  Her standing on the money list is pretty good and should be enough for top 50-60 range (even if she sits out until the Asian swing).  Obviously she can get an exemption for the Buick in Shanghai.  Not sure on Korea or Japan.

Great - all the early coverage will no doubt focus on Lexi - again, 3rd day running with her hogging coverage.

 

She seems nice enough, is good with fans, so my viewpoint isn't personal but I want to watch golf, not an episode of some outback survivor show where a contestant is trying to kill a snake whilst jumping out of the way to avoid being bitten.

 

Translation: I hate Lexi's swing, it is a violent, hooky mess.

 

Please show some early Ally Ewing/Leona Maguire coverage from their group. Please.

Oy. Is the LPGA turning into professional wrestling? What's with these shortened setups? It's a major for crying out loud. Sure, you're going to get an occasional record or near-record score, but three rounds at 65 or better???

 

What hasn't been noted with Maria's slow play penalty is whether she was the first to hit, or the 2nd/3rd. One of the articles mentioned that she was over the 30 second cutoff, so I have to assume she wasn't the first to hit, as that player has 40 seconds to hit. So, she actually had more than 30 seconds to select a club. All players should walk up to their balls, and get their yardages. They can quietly discuss the shot while the other player(s) prepare to hit. Drives me crazy to see a player standing there doing squat while another player prepares to hit, and then starts their process after the other player has finished hitting.

I think the shorten par 4 6th hole at 229 yards didn't have any hazards near the green....what a JOKE.

Fassi said one of the players....In Gee or Uehara was playing slow.

 

I've only seen Dumbo play a few holes....I know she gets disturbed/distracted easily with any noise surrounding her.

 

So for others who have watched them play....are they slow?

Given Fassi’s length it seems likely she wasn’t first to hit and may well have been 3rd - giving her more time to pull a club.  And why hadn’t the group hustled and caught up after being warned several holes back that they were out of position?

In Gee isn't the fastest, but she's no slow poke. Ayako is on the slow side. 

 

'Curious when the group got put on the clock. There doesn't appear to be any blow up holes in the group leading up to the 18th that would possibly put them behind the group ahead.

I am having a difficult time trying to understand why the Americans are so mentally weak in the majors. Time after time we collapse in the 4th round. What is the reason why most of the Asians are so mentally strong and come through in the clutch?
