New Mizuno MPs just announced! Mizuno Pro 221/223/225

I stopped by Golf Galaxy at lunch and took the plastic off of the 223 fitting head. I hit about 20 balls with very consistent results. I wasn't blown away by the feel but to be fair, I was hitting Pro V1X and TP5X balls which are both on the firm side in the bay closest to the wall so I'm sure the acoustics didn't help as well.

I thought the 7 iron looked perfect. Definitely a thicker top line than the T100 but I would honestly say it was perfect for a players cavity.

Definitely looking to try the 225s. Had a set of Mizunos about 15 years ago but my biggest issue has been they just don't fly as far as others for me. Hoping the 225 get closer to the player's distance irons I'm playing now.

I tested all three heads.  Same shaft ($Taper) and compared to my T100S (19 model).

The 221 nearly keeps up with my T100S

223 beat my T100S.  Better feel, better ball speeds, spin.

225 - I was super excited for this one and it kinda disappointed.  I was getting the same level of speed out of the 223 head.  The feel is def not there with this one.  HOWEVER, the miss hits is where this one shines.  I made some poor swings and the miss hits lose very little.  So you sacrifice feel, but its made up for in spades with the forgiveness.

My current ponder:  225 4 and maybe 5

                                   223 5/6 to PW

Interested in the 223.  Ready to see in hand how the size looks.  Sound promising.

was very excited about these irons until I had the genius idea of actualy looking up the price. OUCH

Product of the times. All OEMs are jacking prices now. Mizuno MP irons used to be less expensive than most others at about $165/club (U.S.) but now it's more like $185. That's more in line with Titleist and still cheaper than Ping.

I'm a Mizuno enthusiast so I'm not deterred by the price, but if I were looking for a new set that was more affordable, with essentially the same level of performance characteristics, I would absolutely go with the Srixon ZX7/ZX5 line.

You are right and a moderate price increase like the one you are describing would be OK and for sure in line with the current situation. However in europe the 225 will sell for 220++/club which blew me away after I read the 187.50 price in USD.

Not sure if this will be helpful to anyone, but I pre-ordered my set of 225's through GG and got 4-PW in my specs/shaft for about $1,115 shipped. I got a 15% off code for joining the email list and didn't think they'd let me use it on a set of irons, but they did. I was on the fence about spending the money on them, but for $200 off the list price even if I don't end up liking them I could sell them to get my money back. No affiliation to GG whatsoever, just thought I'd pass on my experience in case it helps anyone save some money!

Wait, so GG have them already? Or is it just a select few-lucky stores?

I hit up Club Champion last week and they told me to check back the first week in January.

My GG had them but I know it's hit or miss. My GG was one of the last to get the T100.

I saw the 223 7 iron in person today. It sits so well at address. I was blown away. The best looking at address of any of the irons I looked at. Looking forward to trying these next year.

I ordered a CLK and STZ fairway this year. Not sure about current lead times, but earlier this year lead times for ANY custom club from Mizuno USA was 6-8 weeks. My set of Srixon ZX7's took 10 weeks.... Get your orders in if you want them by Spring of next year.

Just some friendly advice for anyone that hasn't had the pleasure of ordering a set of irons in the last year.

I'll also add that Mizuno customer service is excellent at giving you info on your order status if you have your order number handy.

So good. 6 or 7 iron for you? How’s feel/sound of 221 vs 225?

7 irons. Sound is actually extremely similar. Feel the 221 feels really dense. For obvious reasons.

Amazing numbers especially with the 221 keeping up at a weaker loft. I was trying to figure out my combo set of 221/225 but full sets of both might be best choice 🤷🏻‍♂️
