New LAB golf putter—Mezz

I can’t wait to try one of these out. My local fitter is ordering a couple to sort of have as demos available. Can’t wait to try one out. I have a strong feeling I might be getting a Mezz.1 soon enough.

I tried the B.2 in a store and loved it, cannot remember making so many 10-15 footers practicing. I can probably handle the B.2 forgiveness-wise and I like how it looks, but the Mezz photos look fine and forgiveness matters.
 

Questions for lab golf:

Will any Mezz.1s show up in stores?  I hate buying a putter without demoing.
 

The B.2 I tried had a regular no press grip.  Looks like the Mezz always uses a press grip.  I assume that’s a function of the head design differences between B.2 and Mezz.

 

Do you recommend a press grip for folks whose technique already creates shaft lean (I putt cross handed).

My Mezz XL Broomstick just arrived.  Looks fantastic and cant wait to get it on the course.

Currently was using the DF2.1 Broomstick with the Ski Pole shaft.

Love that putter, but felt I would get some vibration feedback, as I grip very lightly with a paintbrush grip with my lower right hand. 

 

For the Mezz Broomstick went with the Acra shaft. 

Was surprised that it came in the White Winn Split Grip ( DF2.1 was black so assumed it would be the same)

Looks really sharp!

That looks great!  Can't wait to get my broomstick Mezz.  Hope it comes with the white Winn grip.  I got the KBS black ski pole shaft so it would look similar.  Been second guessing myself on not getting the black Accra shaft.   I can always send it back for reshafting if need be...

Please let us know how the Mezz broomstick performs. I love my DF 2.1 broomstick but may look to add this one down the road.

Will do JA17!  I was contemplating ordering the DF 2.1 but hit "order" at the last moment on the Mezz broomstick.  I hope it gets here soon as our club just announced they will open on April 1st...

Does the Mezz have a taller face than the DF? I would love to see a comparison photo of the two faces. Maybe Sam could chime in?

Same Face depth though maybe appears a touch shallower on the DF because of the soft radius on the top line.

What will be the advantages of the larger Mezz head vs the regular size? Higher MOI/more stable? Similar to the DF 2.1? How much bigger in size will it be vs the regular head?

There should be some sort of note on the page when you order to set expectations for people, rather than having to inquire. You want to ensure people have a good experience with the brand and not make them search for it.

How long did it take for you to get your order?

Ordered the broomstick head on a 36” shaft! The first build like this aside from Charles Schwartzel! Was pricey as hell ($600+) but excited to see the result and how we do. I will have it early May and post as soon as I do.

I just got a shipping notice, and I would say it took 5 weeks between order and shipping out.

Fellow LABers, I am pulling nearly all of my putts with the Mezz.  Any tips?  Setup?  Open stance?

I have this happen to me occasionally still. I haven't quite pinpointed what causes it, but I know it's when I start thinking about my stroke. I have always putted with a slightly open stance so I'm not sure if that affects it. I put the ball almost off my front heel with this putter. 

 

Others on here have had some advice, but for me it only happens on putts less than 10 feet and mostly when I am worried about my stroke. My lag putting has never been better directionally and distance-wise. I really do feel like it's because my hands were used to closing the putter face before and when I get technical/tense in the brain I revert to that.

I was having the same issue. Came to the conclusion that since there’s no torque, the swing weight feels light. I meticulously added lead tape to the bottom of the head until the swing weight felt right. I tried to keep the club as balanced as possible. It still doesn’t feel torquey. Putted pretty good last night. Hopefully this rectified my pulls and left misses.

I believe you can call LAB and send the putter back in to have them put heavier weights in, now that you know the swing weight you prefer, so they can also make sure it is appropriately balanced at that weight.

I want a new grip.  I have the 3° and need something smaller. The OG grip feels good in my hand but it’s heavier.  Or should I go 1.5°.  Much lighter? 
 

 

wont the OG being heavier make me feel the weight of the head less? The lighter the grip, the heavier the head, right?

I have the Press 1.5 and I like the grip very much.
