Pretty boring release... I feel like vokey just came out with these to say he's had something new released...

I think it would look better with titleist instead of the vokey wings. But vokey and Scotty are shying more away from the titleist branding. But again with a traditional wedge there's not much more you can do

I concur…I thought new finishes would be nice. Sticking with gun metal again is pretty lackluster

sm5 was the last time they had anything different with the gold nickel. wonder why they abandoned oil can?

Unless Vokey comes out with a game changer in traditional design, Ala Clevelands RTX Zippcore, the "new" wedges are simply minor changes to get the folks who need the latest and greatest in their bag. Weather it is really an improvement or not.

I absolutely love my RTX Zipcores but I wouldn't call them game changers. They just took weight out of the hosel and added a low density material to help with COG location.

You basically explained what every company has done to muscle backs for decades..

I’m curious to see some quality address pictures of this SM9 line. I really hope they made some tweaks so they aren’t as round looking and are more of a 200 series shape.

Titleist staffers started getting emails to design/order our SM9 wedges. When I put my order in, raw was not a choice for us and there were no new grinds.

What were the finish options?   Also, Grinds and Lofts similar to SM8?

From the photos in the Amex thread, they look exactly like the SM8 from the address position to me. Personally, I am good with that....just get them shipping so I can get some fresh grooves again. They ran out of raw SM8 60M a looooonnnggggg time ago.

Just seeing these for the first time and the way they are now progressing the top edge thickness looks and awful lot like Mizuno T20 and T22. Much more blended than the last few generations. Seems like even the market leader is being "influenced" by others in their design these days.

For traditional players wedges there's not much you can do every two years. But take the badging off the back and they would look very similar. Not sure at address though

Great if true, but at least some of the launch pieces in publications aren't mentioning the raw. I wonder if maybe it will be more a part of the line than in the past but not stocked at stores and maybe with some small increase in price (but not as much as having to go through wedgeworks)?

For example: https://golf.com/gear/wedges/titleist-vokey-sm9-wedge-first-look/

Quote

Vokey’s SM9 (Tour Chrome, Brushed Steel and Jet Black finishes) retails for $179 and will be available for pre-order Feb. 17, and at retail March 11. The standard stock shaft is True Temper’s Dynamic Gold S200.

Also, every picture Ive seen only has 3 finishes potrayed. Im sure raw will be an option but it will likely be only through wedgeworks again. Also, if you go to the sm8 page it says the exact same finish offerings. https://www.vokey.com/wedges/sm8.aspx All vokey did is take sm8 heads and put a 9 on them.

Interesting. Debating on ordering SM8 gap that I was fitted to last year or just waiting to order an SM9. I can't imagine I'd fit differently into an SM9.

Not sure if you have some customizations in mind, but if it's stock, the SM8 is $20 cheaper.

I think the nice thing about Vokey is it remains a Vokey release after release.  No drastic changes outside of finishes, cg location and additional grinds periodically.  Some other companies have such drastic changes per release it’s hard for someone like myself to commit.

I played sm8 for a season and it was the first time I played a Vokey since sm4.  Thought they were one of the better releases in a while.  Just had the wrong grinds in higher lofts.  I can easily see transitioning from any of the older sm models to these no problem.  That’s what is so great about playing a Vokey.

These are just a really nice, clean looking wedge.  Simple and straight forward.

I sure hope so but I don’t think one picture listed at the bottom of the page means that (and doesn’t mean it will be no additional cost). ☹️
