LA GOLF L-Series Iron Shafts

Hit these for the first time last weekend and I was impressed L-series 4.  I didn't notice any difference in the swingweight of the demo club I was hitting (i525).  I will have to try them again as it was one of the best feeling, stable 120g shaft I have ever tried.

Just know that the demo club might have a heavy adaptor that winds up getting the demo club in a swing weight that you're used to. I think the Club Champion uses a fitting adaptor that's 8-10 grams and it got my demo for fitting to swing weight at D3. It'll feel a lot light swing weight when installed unless you add a ton of weight to the build, if that's something you choose to do. These shafts definitely have a high balance point.

Anyone know of tip weights that work with these shafts? Or is tungsten powder an alternative? Want to play the same shaft in wedges as irons, but ideally with slightly heavier swing weights in the wedges.

Looking at adding about 6 grams, would like to avoid lead tape just for looks sake.

How did these turn out? I like the ferrule grip selection a lot, might have to copy you on those for my backup set.

Turned out great! Love them. Got em up to c9 with 5g tip weights. Experimented with a bit of leadtape and went to d1 as you can see in the cavity. But i think i like them better at c9 so the tape is comming off.

If anybody is interested, I’ve picked up a set of irons with L series 05 which is X flex. I love the flight but feel like the X is too much for this golfer. The set will be 4-Pw and will come with some Pure midsize grips in grey.

I used these in 5g, you can also get them in 7 g, they wont fit, but if u hammer them carefully they’ll slide right in.

I've just ordered a 7 iron shaft and found a spare ZX7 7 iron on eBay so I'll make up two identical clubs and see what the difference is between the LA Golf L series and my gamer (Modus 120 X). Should be a fun experiment. My only concern is that these shafts look really low spin and the ZX& isn't exactly the spinniest of irons (although I do play the BXS to counteract that).

Been playing the L-05 for 4 months now and they are without a doubt the smoothest and most controlled shafts I've ever played. Building next years wedges (Hi-Toe 3's 50,55,60) with the L-05 Wedge in the 50 and 55 and putting the VW in the 60. Cannot wait.

Those look fantastic. I had MMT125 TX in my ZX7s, but hook them a lot. Went to 120 TX, and the ball flight is much better, but the wrist pain is back. Have you hit either of those shafts compared to the L series?

what swingweight did Peoples get them to?

Did an 8i experiment with L-Series 5-flex (x). Kind of disappointing if I’m being honest, but I guess confirmation i was already using a shaft that works for me.

EI curve for the L series.

The 20 for the 5 flex is the same value as the Modus 120TX.

The Modus 120X is 18 while the 4 flex is shown here as 19.

The high CPM in the 300's shown above is due to the very ultra stiff butt end.

This is super helpful. I had MMT 125TX soft stepped for a bit. They felt pretty vague on where the club was. I've gone to Modus3 120TX soft stepped and have been striking it great, but the wrist pain is back. Is there a way to see MMT 125TX, 120TX, and LA-L5 all on the same chart?

Looking at the apex and decent , I’d say you’re a good candidate for hardstepping those shafts or try Byrson’s REBAR.

Thanks Bob! Is positive balance towards the butt, and negative towards the tip? Is that "vagueness" and tendency to go left with the MMTs a result of the butt, or the torque?

Positive balance is towards the butt....the LAGolf shaft has a much heavier butt compared to most shafts.  Don't know about the MMT issue.

Especially at a full inch over length, I can't see them playing even close to proper cpm range or proper profile with the added length. I have similar swing speed and am considering a similar build right now at an inch over length and ordered one L-5 I plan to hard step and one Bryson Signature to compare.

@MagicMan79 was your 8 iron shaft hard stepped? Do you know what they swing weighted to at a full inch over? Everyone else being worried they play really light on the SW scale seems like a blessing to us over length players.

I just put it on the scale and it is D-3 @ 37.5". The 8i is lightened 3g, so prob only 1 swingweight point different from stock weight. I did not hard step it
