OEM known for hybrids

I would say Sonartec, at least for a time. When Todd Hamilton won the 2004 Open Championship at Troon, I distinctly remember he had a Sonartec utility that he had bent down to like 15*. This was back when utility/hybrid/rescues were not that prevalent. I am pretty sure Sonartec went under but I don't think I ever saw a Sonartec club that wasn't a utility. Also, they are a JDM so that probably has a bit to do with it.

Sonartec also made fairway woods and drivers. Nick Price was using a Sonartec fairway wood prior to Todd Hamilton gaming his rescue. David Duval was rumored to have used a Sonartec fairway wood when he won the Open Championship.

Timely post. I'm looking to purchase an 18.5* after reading "the most forgiving hybrid" thread. Curious to see if the legendary 3dx lives up to its reputation.

The b st I’ve played. Going with a Tour Edge Exotics E722 19 degree this season. I have high hopes for this one but not as compact as the 3dx.

Same. I have two that are used regularly.

Back in the day, first Nickent, then Adams, really ruled the hybrid market in my neck of the woods. Adams pretty much covered all of the bases when it came to designs - from really small "iron-like" profiles to mini-FW heads similar to the Callaway UW.

Since then, I think every major manufacturer has done their best to figure out how to make decent hybrids on their own. Like other clubs, there are some exceptional models that come out every few years - the Ping Anser Hybrid from 2012 comes to mind in that respect.

I personally play what I think are two rather underrated models - the Callaway Razr X Tour and Titleist 913h. Both perform well for me.

I still play 2008 Nickent hybrids and am just now about to take them out of the bag because I have beaten the faces off of them!  I haven't even hit anyone else's hybrid so I have no clue who even compares to them today.

TM bought Adams, but didn't most of the Adams hybrid brain trust migrate to Ben Hogan? I play a VKTR because it's an iron-style hybrid and it looks an awful lot like the older Adams, even down to the weights.

I also have Ping G20 hybrids in 17, 20, and 27. The 17 is still in my bag. It's pretty much the last Ping hybrid that has an iron profile, all of the ones that followed morphed into the fairway form which I can't hit to save my life.

People often overlook Tour Edge and Cobra. Both companies make hybrids with square faces, which helps avoid left misses for decent swingers.

I'm surprised Srixon hybrids are not more popular. They are really good.

Yep! Just played my ZX 16o 2h for the first time last week - excellent! Straight and as long as my 3w but can hit it of the deck.

Mind yiu, my TM M1 4h is great as well. And my Nickent 3dx 3h. And my Acer 5h too. I hear Cobras with the rails are great and very forgiving

Tour Edge Exotics are worth a look. They have some of the best fairway woods and hybrids on the market.

Just my $ 0.02 on Tour Edge overall. Bought a bag from them, one of the dividers tore prematurely. I asked them about their warranty. Their reply: "We only warrant clubs. There is no warranty on any of our other products."

Great business model, you clowns.

I echo Sonartec. When Todd Hamilton won the British in 2004, the demand for the MD became so high, it killed the company.

When they went under, I was able to buy a Sonartec MD every loft 15-25, as well as the GS Tour fairways. These clubs are still in my rotation. The 25 degree MD is my favorite club!

I still have my TM Rescue 3 from the early 2000s and play Sim 2s (3H and/or 4H, depending) so I clearly like their hybrids, but Adams set the stage for hybrids in my mind.
