I love how dialed he is. I also feel like he has a new ZX5 head every single week with a different graphite design. Garage has to have 100 ZX5/ZX7 combos with Tour ADs

Especially since the “go too” DI is ZXu thats in everyones bag. Goes to show the Wilson must provide something better than the looks, feel and ease the Zxu provides?

At what point does adding that much paint to the face of a club become illegal?  Seems to me that could be borderline.  I also thought adding any foreign substance to the face of a club wouldn't be allowed?

That’s such crap. He did to his driver what TM does to their stealth fairways. Also, other companies put markings similar to what he put on his three wood directly on the face. Just because he added it himself? I’ve seen players put markings on their irons before with no issue. I hope it wasn’t someone on here that called in…..

 I'd be curious what impact if any it would have on ball flight, spin, etc. I don't understand why it would be deemed illegal either.

I think it was on Maverick McNealy’s WITB where he drew a “frame” on his irons with a yellow sharpie. I’ve seen other players do similar as well. What a stupid rule that is now randomly enforced.

What about the CT test dot that tour issue clubs have directly on the sweet spot? Is that not an added marking?

I would love to hear the specifics of the rule and who determines "too much". I would also love to hear how this was missed until he was on the course.

 

Sloppy work as well. I'm surprised he didnt have someone do a better job.

The PGA Tour rules official just gave an in depth explanation of why he was DQd. Basically they said it was too much paint directly on the face which could have affected the ball flight and spin. If the paint would have been only in the face grooves it would have been ok, but not directly on the face surface.

I had no idea when I posted my question that it would actually cause him to be DQ'd. That is wild.
