Should the PGA hava podium finish

I guess that really depends on the exact situation.  Back 3 strokes, assume the leader is finished for the day, and all it takes is 3 birdies to push it to a playoff.  They're absolutely going to go for it.

Now, that doesn't mean playing stupid, but it may mean playing more aggressive.  Think of a guy like Rory.  If Sunday rolls around and he's in that exact scenario, you're only kidding yourself if you think he's not doing all he can to try and win.  Rory doesn't need another top 3 or top 5 finish, he needs to win majors.

Golf tournaments have been and should continue to be about winning. I am a fan of F1 and the podium finishes are apppropriate there, champagne sprayed and all that. But I see golf tournaments produce, again and again, overjoyed winners and the interviews, families  taking part and th price celebrations has delivered in the past and delivers well now. 
 

One can maybe build a bit on that. Lets say the winner gets a microphone and gets 5 or 10 minutes of making a personal recap of the round and the tournament, no commentator asking idiot questions like what it means for him to win 30 secs after holing the winning putt. Or say that greenside winners interview stays to get the hysteria but the TV show ending with the winners reflections, when he has had a couple of moments to digest his win, after price ceremony and all.

I'd say they set up a large cage with the 2nd place trophy in the middle and only 1 exit.  Send the golfers in.  The one who emerges with the trophy wins.  

 

Sqiud games had awsome ratings.  Don't see why it can't work for golf?
