For sure in PGA type rankings they aren't. Alker is great on the SR tour and was one of the worst touring pros this week as far as showing.

For reference, Steven Alker is ranked 211 on the Data Golf Rankings.  Again, the Champions Tour is an example that the "controversial" metric of course length that the SI WGR uses would be beneficial.

They do? Thought they counted the best three?

edit…they count two players rounds 1&2 and three players in the final round….they do not know in advance.

During the first and second rounds, LIV Golf calculates team scores by adding up the best two-stroke play scores for each team. The other two players' scores are thrown out. During the third round, the top three players' scores are added together, and only the lowest score is eliminated.

And due to the shotgun start, there is no way to know before the round, which scores will count.  Got to play as though your score counts.

It is almost unheard of that you know BEFORE the round in HS or College golf. It is during the round that you get an idea wether you should press or protect.

Unless LIV can not afford Leaderboards Live scoring the teams know where they stand and what they need to do or if they are relevant.

Mickelson plays on the champion tour? when was his last start there

I can understand your confusion since the PGAT has scrubbed their web site and removed golfers they don't like (kinda like Stalin and Mao) so he no longer shows up there.  But Wiki has the facts.

I suspect they have them given what I have seen when I watch.

So now we are back to no motivation based upon the team aspect then and the concern is rendered moot.

Weren't those Hoffa's last words in "The Irishman"....I can only imagine right now one of Phil's old rivals (Vijay Singh would make sense) is calling him to "make amends" and have a sit down.

I'm posting these quotes from memory, so maybe some can help with my quotes;

LIV hater quotes:

  • These guys are all washed up
  • Nobody wants to watch these washed up guys
  • Playing guaranteed money events will make them less competitive
  • Playing no-cut events will make them less competitive
  • etc.

But look at this!  These "washed up, non-competitive" guys placed T2, T2, and T4 at the Masters then 1st and T4 at the PGA.  Can we all just agree that golf tournaments are better when they include ALL of the best golfers?  Not just the ones that Monihan hasn't scrubbed from his website.

It's Monahan ... I don't remember anyone saying DJ, Koepka, Reed, Cam and DeChambeau were washed up. Some of the others ? You bet.

Pre-LIV, more golf tournaments did include all of the best players and no one was complaining. Until Norman chose to exercise his vendetta ...

MODS: Is there a list of what can and cannot be discussed about LIV and where in the forum?  Some discussions about LIV should be able to live outside this one thread.

Would love to have a discussion on how Brad Faxon put a nail in Brandel Chamblee here:

Brandel can't fathom that anyone would push back against his LIV hate.

This argument is especially empty when FedEx, probably the biggest PGA Tour sponsor,  just signed a multi-billion dollar development agreement with Saudi Arabia.

The argument against brooks has nothing to do with Saudi connections. And everything to do with not playing in real competitions more than 4 times a year now.  You can’t want to vote Brooks in for winning a major.

would we have voted Block in if he had won ?   I think we all agree that’s a no.  But he was closer to winning the pga than say the number one player on earth.   Unfortunately for LIV guys , not playing in the Ryder cup is one of the trade offs for taking the deal and leaving.

Now when you watch, it will feel less like has-beens and injured or old golfers. As much as i defended LIVs right to exist and some of the dudes there, it did have that kind of a feel at first when some of those guys were struggling. But Brooks is basically with Rahm now to me as top dude

LIV has stratification of golfers in terms of ages and abilities not unlike the PGAT or DPWT.  I don't think that was the intention from the outset but that is where they are at now.  With only 48 players (current) everything is just more distilled.  The bottom is much more prominent.  The top is much more prominent.  The guys typically in the "middle-of-the-pack" are much more visible as well.
