Annoying video ads on site!

I thought it was just me and I was clicking something by mistake, find it really hard to get rid of them?! Awful! I know money needs to be made but could be a better way than having them in your face like that?

Only the PGA Tour is not for profit.  Hard to hate someone’s hustle.  Hoping any extra revenue goes strait to Greg, Brian, and Andrew.

I'm only hearing the video ads but don't see the video. They're automatically playing which is B S.

Meh, pop up ads are annoying but GolfWRX has to pay the bills.  Just right click on the tab in your internet browser and select "Mute Site".  That will auto mute any videos that pop up but the video will still play and whatnot.

The issue for me isn't the video ads, but the automatic play with audio.

 

I mean, audio is pretty intrusive to others. I know there are a lot of members who view this site at work... I CANNOT have audio ads blasting me when I'm on customer calls, and they're hidden in a tab I cannot find on the fly.

This just worked for me.  Thanks!

 

But the automatic audio was the most annoying thing.  I don't mind the ads.  I understand that they need to pay bills here.

I’m general, the ads on this site are becoming larger, more intrusive and just annoying. Very much ruining the users experience.

So the guys who are posting about the audio, I am assuming you do not have a blue tooth speaker when on the course and complain to the groups near you who are playing music!

Same here, understand you gotta keep the lights on, but I'd prefer not to have to scramble to mute my speakers every time I load a page so that little trick helps, glad someone else found it useful!

Not only do we get an automatically playing big video embedded in topics, now a smaller one running at the same time in the corner?

 

And VRBO ads are still malformed.

As always we value and appreciate the feedback.

 

Today is day one of this experiment and we definitely have some bugs to work through.  The player is supposed to be setup to auto play the video but NOT the sound.  We've been testing this for a few weeks and were not getting any sounds unless you click on the speaker icon within the video player.  If you get auto sound, please let us know what operating system, browser, etc you're using so we can try to recreate to fix.  The overlay video in the bottom right of the screen on mobile is high priority item we're trying to fix as well.

 

That said, we hope you find the videos themselves entertaining and interesting.  They are a small glimpse into much more coming in the new year.

I don't browse without some kind of add blocker. iPhone/iPad/iMac I use Wipr.  Windows Edge I use uBlock Origin.

 

I didn't even know there were any new adds until seeing this thread.

Same.  I know that websites need to make money and they hate ad blockers, but I got tired of websites that were dominated by ads so much so that I could barely see any of the content or, even worse, they'd crash the browser because the ads were so poorly implemented.  So, my choice was either stop visiting those sites completely or turn on an ad blocker...

@aaronI'm getting the auto play with audio and click the 'speaker' button on the player to mute but it does not save this for subsequent tabs/pages. Windows 11 and Edge browser.
