Smart move to lose some of the bulk. However John Daly two majors by being a big hitter and he didn’t do all this mumbo jumbo Bryson does. He did have a lovely touch with the wedges unlike Bryson though.

He did have a great pair of hands. The man would flop it off of asphalt.

Every time I see this thread title at a glance it looks like it says "I lost 20 pounds on meth"

I do have to ask, what is the deal with golf writers and their fascination with Line-Backers? They seem to fall all over themselves trying to compare golfers with a bit bulk to them.

"DeChambeau, who is 6-foot-1, transformed from a lanky kid to someone built more like an NFL linebacker."

ummm, James Harrison would like a word with those writers…

True story. A friend of mine lost 20lbs in a month. It was after he stopped injecting anabolic steroids. Not saying Bryson was doing AS, this story just reminded me of that. Also, in my experience a person (not on any type of “medications”) can typically expect to lose about 1.5-2 pounds a week when following a good diet and exercise program.

I lost 5 pounds in like 4 days over the holidays. I had some allergic reaction and couldn’t eat then couldn’t even drink water! Went to ER and they gave me almost 4 IV bags was so dehydrated. They were like, how are you even conscious? Lol

Then they said all my blood work and vitals fine and sent me home!

All fine but only good thing was the weight dropped was all fat and I can see almost a 4-pack haha

I can assure you that if you lost 5 pounds in 4 days it wasn’t fat loss! Haha

But who am I to argue. Hey, if true, good for you my friend! (Smile emoji)

My ab visibility begs to differ!

Ha! I’m sure it wasn’t all fat but no question it mostly was.

Why? Does the body burn muscle instead of fat during extended times (3-4 days) of not eating? I thought it burns mostly fat first

I know right. Golf writers have to give their head a shake and start saying. "He looks like a HIGH-SCHOOL linebacker." It is like they have never seen an NFL linebacker before.

I’ve learned over my time here that it’s best not to go down this road! Haha

I’ll just say congrats to you and ur soon to be 6 pack!

*btw. Looking forward to a new bicep pic this Summer!

Ha! Recover!

ahhh, I’ll never have 6 pack, just can’t maintain deficit to get to <12% bf and  keep it. But solid 4 pack outline is good!

But, interestingly, since I recovered, I’m working a slightly higher rep range of 10-12 even 13/14 reps on working sets instead of 4-10. And definitely getting better hypertrophy!

I saw a Jay Cutler video! He’s like yeah, I just stuck with 10-12 reps through my career. So there you go haha

10-12 reps and $35k a year worth of gear… Yeah, that’s the ticket! Lol

The difference is, @bscinstnct tells you he lost 5lbs of fat in four days you say “I doubt that”. The significant others says the same thing it’s “yes you did and you look amazing baby”. Haha

LOL, part of the irony is she knows she doesn't have any excess in the caboose but still rankles at the suggestion - I say her vanity is getting in the way of friendly couples banter! Which none of us will ever get away with as a justification.

The one topic we are brutally honest with each other about is food - we both prepare meals and can handle and (generally want) comments and suggestions about whether certain things are keepers or how to improve those that could be - so at least we can talk about he important things like feeing our faces.  We pretty much lie our you know what's off about each other's golf shots.

Lol, why don’t you believe it? I didn’t eat for about 4 days. After 12-24 hours, you go into ketosis and burn fat stores. I was probably around 16-17% bf and think I got down to around 13-14 %. Generally, you lose a pound a day but at your size, you could lose even more!

This link actually lists a bunch of interesting benefits of long term fasting. But I’ll personally never intentionally fast myself lol

Stage 2 Fasting (12-18 Hours): Ketosis, Fat Burning, and Mental Clarity

After 16 to 18 hours of fasting, you should be in full ketosis[*]. Your liver begins converting your fat stores into ketone bodies — bundles of fuel that power your muscles, heart, and brain.

I found an article I had remembered reading from 2019.  DJ and Brooks related:

Unfortunately your eyes and four pack are playing tricks on you. It’s mostly dehydration and no bloating. You certainly didn’t drop 5lbs of fat and 3-4% body fat in 4 days. Your 5lbs lost were water, food, and some fat.  1lb of fat is equal to 3500 calories. Unless you are in phenomenal shape, have done strict reverse dieting and have lots of muscle mass, your daily BMR is not going to be anywhere close to high enough to burn that much fat that quickly.

Im in phenomenal shape with “lots of muscle mass”

The 5 pounds lost is not including water weight lol. Pretty easy to step on the scale days later and fully hydrated, and see I’m 5 pounds lighter than I was the week before ; )

Im on 2700-2800 calories a day to maintain around 180 pounds. I didn’t eat for 4 days and had to eat pretty light for 3 more.

That’s an 11,000 calorie deficit over 4 days! Plus prolly another 4 days in a 800-1000 calorie deficit.

*actually, without working out my maintenance calories was prolly more like 2300/day…but still.

Well I’m glad I put my caveat in my statement!

So, realistically, it more like 15,000 deficit over 8 days😉

That certainly adds up to about 4-5lb of fat loss!
