Cherry bombs are the issue.  They are horrible.  We want clean, industrial design.  I never thought Ping would leave Scotty in the dust with milled putters but they are.  Anser 2 in black with clean Ping logo in cavity, no silly colors or bombs.  Add in black graphite shaft and there’s no comparison

i looked at the scotty putter archive and didnt realize the cherry bombs basically started in 08 with the studio select.... so going on 15 years. time for something else.

The pld feel cheap to me imo... sorry any pld dudes. I still like cherry bombs because its signature in a way but i agree maybe something new would be best... i have an idea that would look great but dont want to say because someone would definitely steal it and then id be sad.

I guess I disagree here.  Ping has had weights for a long time.  I like a fully milled putters without weights.  You pay a big premium with Titleist to get one a la circle T.

Yeah, they had the Vault 2.0 that had weights. 
 

I think it’s a pain for them to deal with special orders (hence PLD). 
 

Not to be a jerk, but I read a stat that 45% of Americans don’t know how to change a tire. 
 

So leaving the general golfing public to deal with it is a problematic situation.

Yes Sir. Since 2008 and the model was the studio select .that was the year I got into Cameron's Newport/Np 2's and have gamed one 80% of the time ever since.

And thank you for realizing. I don't think a lot of people realize it's been that long.

I guess you can imagine my frustration as to wanting anything in the cavity, anything, but the same three bombs. 15 years for me. That's every OTR release since I started buying them. when all the previous years before 2008 we're all unique and different. They don't have to go completely, that's his thing I get it..but he can put them somewhere else much smaller. Exactly like he did with the mil-spec which has been out since 1999.

And let's be honest here, cherry bombs are not the only thing that signify a cameron. How about the seven-point crown, the 3-point crown, "Scotty" or " Cameron" or Titleist.

Picked up a new old stock just incase I don’t like the new release. This milling is only reserved for tour putters now anyways.  😊

I’m not sure turn-around time is something I’d even care about when it comes to something from SC. I think they’re kinda the fine wine of putters as opposed to the Whiteclaw’s. 
 

Like fancy shotguns and jewelry.

I have no dog in this fight.  Bought two PLDs last year and have about 7 Camerons.  Curious how they feel cheap?  Milling is nicely done and it’s a solid chunk of 303.  The steel shaft on my DS72 is much more solid than the whippy single bend in the Phantoms.  Plus I like the firmness of Ping’s graphite shaft as well.  The milling is a little deep for my tastes but you can’t win them all. At this point I wish Scotty would copy Ping.  Build a PLD Anser 2 clone - black head, clean graphics, no bombs or bright colors, true tri-sole and high quality black graphite shaft.  I think that’s the blade I’m going to pick up this year if I get one.  I’ll stop rambling now…

Played that putter for many years and it’s really nice.  Love the 71 degree lie and 4 loft specs from back in the day

Yeah man. I still do 71* 4* on all new Scotty’s too. Always worked for me.

It’s funny how out of touch some people on this forum are with the general golfing public. Scotty just sold the most putters in 2022. But sure he’s out of touch because he won’t make you guys a carbon long neck neck notch back with a sight dot and your name milled in the cavity for $300 or some other obscure combination that only 5 people would buy. They make the models that sell the most to the general public. Everybody knows it’s a Scotty Cameron when you see the cherry dots, they’re recognized by everyone. They’re not my favorite but they’re not going away any time soon, it makes the most business sense.

They’re also milled in the US for cheaper than PLD and Toulon and PLD’s aren’t milled in the US (not sure about Toulon)

Not weird at all, a bunch of us are begging for that, in a Newport or Newport 2. Then I’d think about using his custom shop but not currently when I’m stuck with sight lines

We are here because we like Scotty Camerons.  A lot of us just want something cool like Scotty used to make - a clean, industrial design.  The cherry bombs are played out full stop.  Love that he mills them in US, but that has nothing to do with design.

 

uploaded some files.  We are just asking for a putter like the Ping with Titleist, Acushnet or Cameron in the cavity.  Titleist is known for clean, timeless design.  No reason the putters can’t be that way again.  After 15 years it’s time to bring it back.
